Thread: What are the big DE sellers? And what are people spending all their credits on?
Medical 5 or 6 modules in r2/r3/probots units with foodChem crafting, and storage if there is a 3rd module open.Armor 4-6.
The medical community seems to like us.
My biggest sellers are R2's with crafting stations (any kind), Protocolsand other humanoid droids get a lot of requests, as well as probots. Amazingly with droid permadeath inacted I still sell 5-6 probots daily. It's possibly because I charge less than 6k for them while most DE's on my server I'm aware of charge in the excess of 15k-20k each. I'm also selling a ton of BH droids. 20 or so daily.
Did you ask what I spend the money I make on? Probably not, but I'll tell you anyway. I spend my money on harvester maintenance, vendor and building maintenance and travel. Since Ikeep an excess over 100k credits in my bank at all times, I buy a lot of frivolous things... Armor to show off, Interesting creature pets, facton pets that would take me forever to get (I'm Rodian and Imperial) as well as whatever tickles my fancy.

I'm not extremely far up the DE trees, so I can't build protocols, BLLs, or R3s. Also, I'd like to give the dev who came up with the idea of putting cluster sockets in a vastly different tree than the R2 a lifetime supply of shame.. However, for now, I sell upwards of8 AdvR4s a day, stuffed with 3 data modules. The CHs know a nerf is just around the corner, but stillbuy all these I can possibly build for stuffing hundreds of pets in.
Probots sell ok, but aren't great money (post-nerf regular probot with level3 armor is 6k). I get a few requests for repair droids from time to time, but since putting a 'repair module' in the 'repair droid' breaks it, I don't really want to build one. hehe.. but I digress.
That's about it. These are the best sellers as far as lower-end droids are concerned.

While I understand the inconvenience, personally I think the real shame of this profession is that essentially everything falls in one branch of the tree. Everything else is just icing. The result is, of course, that we're seeing "Droid Designers" running around putting Level 1 modules in their droids because that's all they can make.
Kind of off-topic, but I picked up a copy of "The Essential Guide to Droids" just for perspective, and you know, a fairly interesting idea I had was that each branch of the tree could have represented a different corporate droid franchise. You could have the Industrial Automaton branch (with astromechs and the like), the Cybot Galactica branch (with protocol droids and others), the Arakyd branch (with combat-focused droids) and a fourth tree where each level represents one of the smaller corporations.
Advanced R2
Regular R2
Advanced Probot
Surgical Droid
All crammed with crafting stations, medic, data, item, you name it.
Advanced probot with repair and medic, twin level 3 or 4 armor
So in essence you need the blueprint branch to build the droid and the production branch to make it useful. Armor in the construction branch makes sense (though it seems the few other modules scattered through there are solely to make the branch more 'full' and should be in production, really).
The last branch, Droid Refinement, is similar to the branch on most other trees where you get more skill but no new techniques, and if droid experimentation had a more profound effect would be a very good branch.
I will agree as a non-DE and just a consumer, the 110 Med Mod droids are awesome and toss in chem/food crafting station and they should be gobbled up by people.
I think the issue is some people do not know the benefits of the med mod/crafting droids when it comes to down time in the field and at star/shuttle ports.
I have a surgical droid with the 110 mod and crafting station (I wish I could see the effciency rating of the station, but oh well) and I still am tempted to run out and buy an advanced R2 unit with 110 and crafting station.
I like the way the R2's look but I am going to wait until the color schemes actually show when you all make them, then I will buy a new one.
I've also sold quite a few R2's and even an R3 with Medical VI and Food/Chem, though I do charge more for those. To date I've only had one person who's said they were just going to go and buy their unit from someone else who was cheaper, though I've had several people unable to purchase them at the time because of finances.
Probably my second best selling item are advanced probots with a crafting station. I always warn customers about using them in combat, although I also always slap an Armor III module onto it as well (I put Armor III on everything I sell, assuming it has a DDR). Those tend to run 15k, though their price can vary around a bit depending on exactly what modules are installed.
Probably third best selling are R5 units with crafting stations and standard probots. Standard probots I sell for 5k and R5 units are around 5k depending on modules.
What I -don't- sell:
Droids with General Module Service Clusters installed in standard service module slots - I'm sure this is a bug and I'm not going to sell something that may get nerfed and destroy the functionality.
Droids with data storage modules to people wanting to store pets - Storying pets in data storage modules is definitely a bug and is going to be nerfed. See above. Also, most people wanting to buy such a thing know it's a bug (and if they didn't, they do after they ask for it) and I am not going to support people trying to exploit.
Droids with stacked modules - As above, I'm not sure if module stacking is a bug or not. If the devs ever state that its not and is functioning as intended then I'll be only too happy to stack modules. The one exception to this is armor since many droids have multiple DDRs and armor is the only thing that will go there. However, when I stack armor I make sure the customer knows the armor is stacked and the potential target of a nerf somewhere down the line.
