Thread: A laugh for the depressed DE's

I have been grinding away for the last week or so and finally earned the ability to make an advanced probot with lvl 3 armor last night. I figured I would tinker around with my new skills and build aprobot for a friend. So I start making all the different components and combines, the occasional crit fail happens here and there no biggie, part of crafting right?

I continue on slowly making the parts (nothing memorized yet, newbie...) and finally get to the final combine. I double click all the cool sounding items into the window and hit assemble, CRIT FAIL! I laugh it off thinking that is pretty ironic, my first advanced level droid and I crit fail! So I figure I will try again tomorrow and get back to grinding. Then another buddy asks if I can whip him out a quick probot so I figure I would give it another shot.

This time no crit fails on any components, so I am feeling pretty good. I go to the final combine and CRIT FAIL! Ok, there is either something wrong here, or the Droid Gods just aren't my side! I started to wonder if I needed some of the customization tree or what! After my 3rd and 4th droid came out ok, I just chalked it up to bad luck!

it seems to have a lot to do with the quality of your materials and the quality of your crafting tool/crafting station. i have 0 customization and with really good tools/resources i rarely crit fail. maybe 3%

It really does depends on the type of crafting stations you used. Once they changed it, (i'm a master artisan as well) i also changed mine to about +12 from -15. (personal crafter that is) and I noticed I didn't fail as much, but i still had some failures. Recently, i got a master architect friend (Eilwyn, gotta love her!) to make me some personal crafting stations for my house at about +12. (they were - 15 as well). Got them yesterday, and made a bunch of orders that I had recquired (such as 3 ADV Probots, lvl6 armor, 2 protocol droids, and some other misc R4 and mse droids). I counted 1 crit out of about 2 hours of crafting. Not that my normal crits were abnormally high, but to me it seems to have paid off to get these new crafting stations.

Maybe you should look into this. I'm on Radiant server btw.

On both crit fails, I was using a station that has like a 24 (or it might even be a 35) rating on it. Extremely high (950+) copper and other resourceswere used on the station, and it was all experimented up by masters. I am not in game so I can't say exactly what the rating is, but it is higher than 20.

My tools do suck, so maybe that was the issue. How do you get the tool rating up? I have tried using some great materials, but they still come out negative. Any help would be appreciated.

Just upped both my tools and crafting station last night. My tools are now 14.19 and my Driod crafting station is at 28.8. My armorsmith station is at 38.8. Seems to help affect the amount of successes, but I need to keep toying with it and my old one to verify. Gotta love the high conduct materials.

How did you get the tools up there? Did someone build them for you or did you make them yourself?

the little tools you just need to get the higest conductivity metal you can and use that.. experiment effectivness completly..

Made them myself. I made schematics for WDG tools, Structural and Chem tools. I got Great Success on assembly than 2 Great Successon experimentation in the first shot on each tool. That brought experimentation to 97% on each that resulted in the 14.19 on each. So I might be able to squezit up a tiny bit more. The stations were made by my best friend who is an architect.

Not without 1000 conductivity you can't. I've got similar crafting tools, and you probably made yours with the same 973 conductivity copper I did (Corbantis, right?).

Anyhow, the maximum you can achieve through experimentation is capped by resource quality. Crafting tool effectiveness is based 100% on conductivity, so to determine what you can possibly achieve with a given resource, divide the conductivity of the resource by 10, rounding down. Congratulations, you have the best crafting tool you could make with the materials you had available.

I've remade all my crafting tools several times, after I figured out how it was working and as better resources came available. I expect to stick with my 14.19s for a while, though.

997 conductivity copper + master artisan = 14.99993 effectiveness

May be off on the number of nines, but you get the picture - the best crafting tool possible.

Now if I could only get that crafting station above -15...

As a side note I seem to craft better using my droid than the station because it is so bad.

Cool..thanks Kit..saves me the trouble of trying to get it to 100%. Good work.

So here is the million dollar question. Does experimenting on the droid crafting station modules help any?

I wish I knew. Certainly it seems to make no difference on medical modules. I mean, the components all have a "mechanism quality" when you build them, but if that's reflected in the droid you ultimately put them in, I can't see any indication of it. And if the modules have, or do not have, any effect on the droid, then what's the droid's experimental effectiveness all about? Effective at what exactly?

In short, I sure don't get the million bucks on this one.
