I am having a hard time with trying to figure out what is a "Service Mod Cluster" ? What do I have to build to fill this optional slot in certain droids?

A service module is one of the following:

Item Storage Mod- allows a droid to carry regular items
Data Storage Mod- allows a droid to carry data items
Medical Mod - gives owner of droid medical skill based on lvl of Mod
Crafting Station Mods - the droid becomes a crafting station depending on which station you equip depends on which station the droid is, station include weapon item droid, clothing armor, furniture structure, and food.

and those are pretty much it you have to build one of these and then during construction add them to the slot this will give that droid the mod.

Oh, I forgot there is also a repair mod I dont have it yet so I dont know what it does but I would imagine it repairs droids, weapons, armor, etc.

A service module cluster is an item you gain the schematic for on expert of (forgot the name, it's the far left branch). It can hold three service modules. So, first you craft the modules, then craft the cluster with the modules as ingredients.

Basically some droids need a cluster to have modules installed. Let me see, that would be R2, R2 Advanced, R3, R3 Advanced and Surgical Advanced. (Maybe Protocol Advanced, but don't know that one for sure).
