Thread: what components do you stock?

I'm looking for some advice from other DE's about what components you concentrate on keeping in stock. I am still rather new to the profession and seem to always have to make factory runs of components to be able to make anything (including some components!) Any advice about what I should always keep on hand?? Also, how do you price them? Most other items I can place a relative value on based on raw materials plus value. However, this doesn't seem to work as well when a droid is made of tons and tons of little parts. How should we plan to price the new droids? Will components I make now work after the next patch? Also, how vital is the crafting quality of these subcomponents??

Thanks

That's pretty much what I keep stocked, along with factory made R2 and R3 advanced chassis, droid repair modules, and my level 6 data/storage/medical general module socket clusters.

Data/Storage/Medical? I would think that Crafting/Storage/Medical would be in more demand.

My top seller lately has been advanced R2s with level 6 everything, plus food/chem module and droid repair module. Making a crate of inv6/storage6/med6 clusters has been quite worth it. I have pretty much all my modules in crates - I hand make the level 6 modules if they're required seperately for special orders.

That being the case I would think that you would do better with Chem/Storage/Medical and doing the Data and Repair as the separate modules. Then the clusters could be dropped into standard R2 units for medics who don't care about data and repair or into advanced surgical droids if you are lazy (since you'll effectively lose the storage module).

But do whatever works best for you. I'm really more thinking out loud than saying it needs to be done this way or that way.

I'm assuming you mean the Advanced Droid Brain since I don't believe Droid Brains need EMMs.

EMMs and GP Modules are both made by Master Artisans.

Here's the relationships you need to start making:

Master Artisan:

Control Units

Micro Sensor Suites

Electronics GP's

Electronic Memory Modules

(Actually, it doesn't hurt to become a MA as a DE. You can make all the components you need, plus you can make a nice side business by selling this stuff. Due to the max experimental points,MA's also make the highesteffeciency crafting tools and repair tools. I've done this on Kettemoor.)

Architech:

Power Cores (for Power Droids)

Armorsmith:

Composite Armor Segments (for Level 5 and 6 droid armor)

On the other hand, Architechs need DE's for Droid Storage Compartments.

Thanks for the tips...

Has anyone played with the new systems? Will components still work after the patch or should I hold off making them? How important is the quality and experimentation in the subcomponents. I can see how a lvl 6 medical module should have a high rating, but what about the motive system, manipulator arm, sensor suite, etc?

I actually go farther and also stock ADV R2/R3/Probot chassis'. This makes life so much easier. Store a box of each in your crafting bot, and you can pop out a custom droid for a customer in 5 mins or less. If they dont like the color, you can always customize it for them as soon as they call it.
