Thread: If the Devs Implement Battery Usage As a Droid Decay Control...

Hmm... I have NO idea what happened to my original post... but if it should pop up after I post this one, well... I’ll apologize in advance.

First, I'll make a purely subjective observation.

I feel that battery condition does indeed affect the frequency of CFs experienced when crafting alongside a Droid equipped with a crafting station.

Having gotten that purely subjective statement out of the way...

I have been seeing an increasing number of suggestions to use Battery Utilization to determine the "effective life expectancy" of a droid. While I do not wholeheartedly agree with this concept, it may have some merit... especially for droids that see no combat at all. However, while I agree (somewhat), I have had a problem reconciling my desires to see some form of decay and depreciation brought into play in a manner that is fair and equitable to other players. So. I have come up with a possible solution that may (or may not) satisfy folks.

I would like to suggest the development of a variation on the Droid Storage Module that Architects use in the crafting of homes. When added to a home, this module would be used to connect a droid to the home’s power supply, permitting the owner to use the droid as a personal crafting station at no penalty, so long as he/she remained at home with it. (This might also have the added benefit for newer players that can neither locate nor afford a high-quality Crafting Station for the home.) While the droid is connected thus, it would become a part of the home, count as one of the items dropped into the home and would remain in the home until "decoupled" by the owner or until the owner logs out.

I can even imagine an animation sequence where the owner issues a "Follow Me" command prior to "decoupling" the R3 unit from the house, whereupon the unfortunate droid shakes himself into serious damage while trying to proceed to his owner’s side.

At the very least, it would add to the "Star Wars Feel" of SWG.

As usual, constructive comments, flames and all other general responses are solicited.

- Account: Master TKA (cancelled)

- Account: Master Droid Engineer (activity suspended pending developments)
Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.
