Thread: General clustor mods doh

Hey all, I'm sure this has been discussed but I haven't hit the forums in a while....

It seems now that general clustor mods are useless since you can only put them in ONE droid (surgical?) - am I going crazy? Before the last publish I could make advanced protocol droids and stick two general clustor mods stuffed with all the different crafting stations (kind of an ultimate crafting station droid) - when I try to build a protocol droid now (or any other really) it doesn't recognize the gen mod clusters I just made - what the?

Am I crazy? Or has that functionality been removed - if so, why?!?!?

As was pointed out to me in a post yesterday (and I am so happy to know this now), the Combat CapableCluster will accept regular modules as well as combat modules. So you can still put 6 regular modules in an R3 if you embed them in a combat not a regular cluster module 1st.

The only downside is the combat cluster uses more resources (including a brain) than a regular cluster does.

1) Being able to build protocol droids with a socket cluster installed was a bug.

2) There are 2 droids, the Surgical droids and the Adv. Binary Load Lifter that use the GMSC's.

The devs are so incompetent, they can't even do something as simple as adding a cluster without breaking an existing one . . . and yet they have the audacity to blame certain delays ona mythicalQA department . . . must be nice to pick up a paycheck without earning it . . .

The functionality that allowed you to add 2 cluster mods to a surgical was a bug/exploit... Module sockets now only accept modules. Combar capable sockets accept both utility and combat modules. And Combat clusters accept both utility and combat modules. General cluster suckets accept general sockets and combat capable cluster sockets accept combat capable clusters...

I hope that didn't come out to messy.

Thanks all for the clarification. It's so hard (if you don't keep up with these fine message boards) to know all these little things because not everything is in the release notes by the devs for each patch/update. Very frustrating.

I did end up just using an R3 now instead of protocol for what I wanted to do - but it's a shame because protocols where what I wanted and a big seller for me.

thanks again everyone - I love this DE community here on the boards - everyone is so helpful

I's like to see them dispense with the general clusters now, make the droids that use gen clusters just take straight modules and remove droid brains from the combat capable socket clusters. 1 brain per combat module is bad enough, but to make a fully loaded combat R3 now requires *NINE* standard droid brains (1 in each of the 6 combat modules, 1 in each of the 2 CCSCs, 1 in the final deed) and 2 advanced brains. The resource requirements and factory demands of this profession are off the hook.
