I'm in the process of putting together a lengthy post and I always find that answering questions while I do so tends to help me out.

Well hey, thanks a lot both of you.
That's why I love the droid engineering profession, the people here are friendly, not all "GET TEH &%*$ OTU N00B!"
Thanks, I'll have to try out that droid chasis thing. So my understanding is... when I go to make the final droid, I don't need the resources or anything, I just put in a chasis in place, and then add the mods and armor?

With the exception of the Adv R4, you will need 280 Chemical for Advanced Droids using a Chassis. The closer the Chemical is to 1000 OQ, the better your chances of maxing out the HAM value.

Yes, these are kinda n00b questions, but I was away from the game since April, and still not caught up on all of the changes made since then. I apologize if the answers to these questions are right in front of my face, and I just couldn't see it.
1. Do Surgical Droids have any kind of inherent functions? Or do they act as a normal droid that you can also install a personality chip into?
2.Speaking of personality chips, do they take up a module slot? Or is there an extra, optional "personality chip only" slot that won't take away from useful modules?
2b. I'm also curious to more information about the personality chips... I like the concept of having a droid with some kind of personality that will talk and stuff, but at least from my first go round, from what I was hearing, droid personality chips were actually kinda pointless... the droid never talked and stuff like that. Is this still the same? Or will the droid at least periodically say some things?
3. The combat capable socket cluster, does that also work with non-combat modules, like our original mod socket cluster? Or is this combat only and there's another cluster socket in the Droid Engineering tree that I am just missing?
That's all that I can think of at the moment. I ask because I'm on the verge of getting a couple new skills which will give me a *lot* of new options with my droids, and I want to make sure I'm not dilluding myself with what I'm getting hyped for. Thanks, in advance.

No. Yes

The CCSCs take combat and non-combat modules. GSCs only take non-combat modules. The GSCs can not be installed in non-combat droids, such as Surgical Droids andBLLs.CCSCs can not be installed into non-combat droids and GSCs can not be installed in combat droids.
Opps, strike the non-combat part above
Let me try that again......

Thanks Drashk.
1 other question I just remembered, and this came up from reading your DE 101 post:
What is the point of the droid chasis, other than just for display. From my understanding of your thread... you can have the droid chasis available and later put the mods and stuff into them to create the actual droid... am I understanding correctly? If so, how is this done?
And the non-combat clusters cannot be put in non-combat droids? That seems kinda weird to me. Oh well.

2.Speaking of personality chips, do they take up a module slot? Or is there an extra, optional "personality chip only" slot that won't take away from useful modules? it has its own slot
2b. I'm also curious to more information about the personality chips... Is this still the same? Or will the droid at least periodically say some things? in my experiance that will say random things (few and far between) but the bigest change is the text in the convers menus
3. The combat capable socket cluster, does that also work with non-combat modules, like our original mod socket cluster? Or is this combat only and there's another cluster socket in the Droid Engineering tree that I am just missing? it does work with noncombat modules. it just has the added option of takeing combat mods.

Advanced Droids have a higher module allowance then the Basic model. Basically, Advanced Chassis' are built exactly like a Basic Models, without module sockets, armor sockets, and personality chip slots. The Chassis then fits into a slot in the Advanced Droid Module, in place of the normal Brains, Arms, Sensors, etc. The Advanced Model Droids usually take Chemical, a Droid Brain, and the modules to complete.
I adjusted the above to list correctly...

From my understanding of your thread... you can have the droid chasis available and later put the mods and stuff into them to create the actual droid... am I understanding correctly? If so, how is this done? the chassis looks like a droid so its Ez to use for decoration but is also a component for a ADV droid. when to make a ADV model it will only take 1 chassis (of the right type) moduels, armor, and resorces. so its like just adding modules to it![]()
And the non-combat clusters cannot be put in non-combat droids? That seems kinda weird to me. Oh well. read posts abovehe got mixed up. happens to us all.
