Thread: Ways to sell Droids: Novice DE question
Erkat wrote:
Hi all,
I am currently doing the DE grind and have been thinking of ways that I might sell my products.
One thought was to sell droids in travel packs which would contain:
- 1 x droid deed and description
- 1 Droid Batteries
- Repair kit?
- Customisation kit?
These could come as Medical Droid Packages, Combat, crafting, astro etc.
I've been trying to think of way to put a waypoint in the bag as well for my shop so ppl can come and buy consumables.
Also, a luxury package could be offered using Spec Op packs instead.
Has anyone ever sold dorids in this way? And if so with what results/problems etc?
Cheers.

The biggest problem, is that until you're an established merchant people tend to not trust buying bags of items. There have been numerous scams in the past where people would sell empty (or filled with junk) bags with different descriptions to unsuspecting buyers. There's even a warning that pops up when you try to buy a bag because of it.
What I do personally, is modify the DeedName for stock droid at the last crafting stage. I put exactly what's in it in the name. Example: "R3 Adv - Food/WDG/Strctr/Clothing Stations - Max Item/Data" (ya gotta abreviate sometimes because of the character limit).
When doing custom orders - which are the bulk of my non-BH sales - I make the droid the way they want, leave the name alone, and put it in a travel pack. I explain to the customer that I have placed their order in a bag to discourage other people from buying it (I know I won't buy something that I have no clue what's in it), and that I have called it "[customers name]'s Order" in [color] text. I don't tell them, but I include a battery and also a Repair-D if it's a combat droid. I used to include a customization kit, but with it being 2000 calls now I'm not providing that for free anymore. That's a chunk out of my business when it used to encourage repeat sales.
As far as waypoints go... include it in the name of consumables. Like "Droid Battery - Snoosnoo's Droids [1760, -5090 / Tat]" That way they'll see it when they look at it. I have also been known to place a Reconstruction-A in the pack with a name like "Redeem this for a Free Battery [1760, -5090 / Tat]" so they come back again for the free battery. While that's not exactly repeate business, it *is* a repeat customer... who has just relearned where your shop is and will have it fresher in their mind the next time they need something. ![]()
While it untimately comes down to personal preference, and what works for you, that's how I do things. I hope it helps ya out. ![]()
Thanks Jiaah!
There's some really helpful advice there. You've probably saved me from quite a few pitfalls.
Shame there isn't a way for customers to see the contents of packs before buying.
Cheers!
Repair kits, I would not inclue those in the pack, BUT advertise that you have them on your shop that way you can get repeat business,
