Droid Engineer Archive

I know that experimentation on these does nothing for the number of uses, but does it affect effectiveness in the field? The reason I ask is that a BH friend of mine had to use 15 seekers (not mine) to find his mark, and he asked me if these could be experimented on. I told him yes, but I didn't think that it mattered. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.
