Thread: are DE's even needed??
Frankly, not really. So far, since the CU, I have sold probably about 500 each of Seekers and Arakyds to all of the respec BH's, gotten some requests for bomb droids that were killed when I told them they were broken, and sold maybe 10 flight computers/astromechs. Thats it.
Granted, my vendor is not on the global bazaar, so I never really sell much anyway. But its gotten worse since the CU. No more med droid sales, for one. People seem to think combat droids are useless now, although a Probot can outdamage my level 70 creature handler pets (the <1 second speed is awesome). With more grouping and the lack of any way for a low damage tank to hold aggro, no more tank droids. Harvest Droids were killed by the whole grouping thing a while back (was that ever fixed?). Entertainer droids.... well, many of the entertainers are gone now, so thats it for that. I don't think the Stim droids are working, haven't tried that yet though. Crafting droids have always been a slow sale, for whatever reason, I guess because most people only craft at their house anyway. The inventory addition cut sales of storage droids.
Did I miss shooting down anything? I still love DE, never will I drop it. But its just not in that much demand, less so now than it has ever been.
I like DE its fun but I respeced out so I can spend more time with my boyfriend since he is mainly combat.
But I think DE is very needed.
And I spent all that time grinding yesterday. Bleh. Oh well. Hello all from a new DE. It's been pretty fun so far, except that grinding.

Just make sure you get Master Artisan too. You'll constantly need MA components for droid subcomponents (Brains, seekers, probes, etc).
Welcome! As everyone else has said, we do it b/c we love it - not b/c we want to make oodles of credits. It can be tough and frustrating at times, but the game wouldn't be fun for me if it weren't for DE.
Since the CU I have sold 3000 seekers and probe droids. I have also sold over 7 million credits worth of merchant/storage (protocol), power/storage (power), combat probots and combat R3s.
I say no, more DEs arent required because I can handle the load.
