Thread: A 10 Storage Module Rating DOES NOT equal 10 spaces of item storage...
I've noticed that a few DE have made mention that they can use 2 Level 3 Item Storage Modules to produce the same effect as a Level 6 module. I just wanted to point out to everyone that the Storage Module Rating is not the same as the actual Item Storage space.
The following is the Storage Module Rating needed to acheive the actual Item Storage Space
Base Storage Item Storage
Module Level Module Rating Space
1 1 1
2 3 2
3 5 4
4 7 6
5 9 8
6 11 10
So, 2 Level 3 Storage Modules that have a base Storage Module Rating of 5 will stack and give you a Storage Module Rating of 10, which makes it equal to a Level 5 Module and allows for only 8 Item Storage. The only way to produce the same effect as a Level 6 Item Storage Module is by experimenting on the Level 3 Item Storage Modules and achieving a Storage Module Rating of 6 on one, or both of the modules being stacked. I just wanted to point this out to a few of the DE that have stated that they produce higher functiong stackablity.
Where were you when I was a noob? Thanks for this info! Dunnow what FAQ is appopriate, but it needs to get stickied somewhere.
actually you can use two level 3's to get 10 spaces, just got to experiment. All I've been using recently (since I have never seen lidium extrusive ore on my server) is two level 3's.
Right. I believe that I have mentioned that my Level 3's are experimented when I have said this in the past.
Experimentation DOES have an effect on droids, just not as much of one as we might like. Specifically, you can dramatically alter the capabilities of the "Level" modules with experimentation and resources.
So if I read your chart correctly (with some extrapolation), when I experiment a Level 3 Item Storage module up to a rating of 6 I should only get 5 actual spaces of storage? I'll have to try making a droid with a single module to see what happens.
Although I distinctly remember getting 10 actual storage spaces out of a pair of L3 modules that each had a rating of 5. I remember it because when I combined them into the droid, the droid claimed to have a storage capacity of 11, not 10, which makes me think that fractional values are retained even if they're not displayed. (Those 2 modules were probably 5.5 each or something, resulting in a total value of 11 instead of 10.)
I combined a couple of level 4 modules, rating '7' each, and got a combined rating of '15' in the cluster I was assembling.
I have to try putting together a droid with my new rating '8' level 4 modules, and see what gives. Darn these five droid slots.
