Thread: 2 questions for you droid experts (customization and cantina med-droid)

1. Sometimes when I call out my med droid, it tells me "your droid's customization has completely faded away...". What does this mean? Does this mean the creator changed the droid's color, but now it's back to default? That's kind of annoying, since it happens after just a few days...

2. I went outside a cantina, called my med droid (a floating seeker droid) which has 110 med capability and a med crafting station in it. I grouped the droid, then went back into the cantina. I was still unable to heal my friend's wounds, although I had the appropriate wound packs. When we went to the hospital, without the droid, I could heal the wounds just fine. Do med droids not work in cantinas? Or do they need to be in the surgical driod chassis?

Thanks

The customization message refers only to color, and it's a bug that it appears so darned often. You get 20 call/store cycles on one customization job.

You simply cannot do that in a cantina. It's been a restriction in SWG since day one, and I don't see it changing. No wound healing in cantinas, because they didn't want to allow for all-too-easy experience gains in a team between an entertainer and a medic.

1. The message that you are recieving means that any special paint that they droid received has worn off. It's annoying to receive the message everytime you call your droid but there's nothing wrong and it can be safely ignored.

2. By design, medical modules in droids do not work in cantinas.

Now, my question, I had thought that the cantina rule applied no matter what, so that's what I told my customers. But last night, I was in a Player City cantina and a doctor pulled out their medical droid and was able to heal people's wounds. Anybody know if the cantina rule still applies to Player Cantinas?

You are half right here. The Customization fade message will pop up after the color on your droid fades. It will also pop up a few calls after you tame the droid. This message is pointless, since the droid hasn't been colored before. Even if the color is changed during the crafting process, the droid's color will still be default when tamed. Coloring the droid will take care of the problem for about 15 calls of the droid, but after that you will recieve and increase in the system messages that refer to the colorization

No, medical droids of any type do not work in standard city cantinas. This was set up this way so that people will go to the cantina to heal mind wounds and go to the Med Center to eal everything else. The Surgical Droid is currently nothing more than a package to place the medical module in, at this time.

Player Cantinas are owned by the person that dropped them. Just like any other dropable player structure, you can call a droid out to heal wounds. Whether or not this was intended is another matter all together.

Hey Drashk, regarding the customization fading message:

I have an advanced R2 I crafted back in September, before the customization patch. He is still the old classic gray and red, never been customized, and I pull him out on a regular basis. He STILL gives me that danged message every time!

I like to help out where I can. I'm a novice DE and the information that I have gained from this community are very valuable to me. Thanks for the clarification on the Player Cantina issue. And here I was giving false information to people.

Thanks everyone who answered! I'm always amazed at how much DE's know about their profession...kind of like EE's in real life

I see the reasoning behind no med droids in cantinas, it makes sense; otehrwise hospitals would be obselete.

I hope they fix that coloring bug... imhoa droid's customization should never fade away, unless clothing bleaches over time, too. It's not like paint jobs on cars or computer mods wear off quickly.
