They don't want to cut down on the battery market too much. If you think about it, everyone would be buying power droids so they don't need to recharge. However I still find the fact that they need recharging stupid so I have 2 suggestions that could be used if power droids can require no batteries. (Either/or, not both.)

1. Do not give Power droids the ability to have modules. (No one buys a droid they can't use but the power droid would function as intended.)

2. Make Power droids require a high level of DE to use. (Mind you we shouldn't need to be a genious to work one but it would stop dabblers from climbing the tree just for a droid that is useable without batteries.)

Any other ideas?

I very much doubt that's it. I'm fairly sure the miserable state of our droids is due to neglect, not design.

Power droids were this way before there WAS a battery market. Remember, up until a couple of months ago, all you ever needed to do was store and call your droid to fully recharge it's battery.
