Hear's the answer you didn't want to see (or maybe you did?)! To become the E-E DE you must reach level 4 of the first 2 DE skill trees. this way, ppl can have their cake and eat it too!

I don't mean to sound completely sarcastic about it, but this idea on how to impliment Combat Droids, I have not seen yet. Sorry to the person who may have already suggested it. I really don't think it has been introduced though.

So, going on the guess-o-matic that this has not been brought up, the DCE can earn the more advanced droid certs and blueprints. The regular DE's can make combat droids for all other classes but the DCE makes his own. Also worth pondering, an Elite-Elite Profession does not nessecarily have to have 16 boxes plus novice and master boxes. It could have 2 trees with 3 boxes each and a master box or 3 trees with 2 boxes and a master box or just a few boxed trees with no master box.

Honestly, to all the DE's concerned about the "Dabbing DE's" does this sound like a step in the right or wrong direction?

I'm against any droid handler profession in any manifestation. Anything that requires me to use more skill points justto use the droids I make and know really, really sucks.

Well...most of the DEs-in-the-know already understand that this would be quite a bad idea.Remember that it might also mean that YOU would have to partakein this too, just to use a droid that you basically already can. Chew on that.

Hmmmm.....2 skill trees, huh? Just like CH before they balanced it?!?

Think again...it's not gonna happen. I don't think the Devs are daft enough to make that mistake twice.

Don't worry...no one has, bro' (except maybe Drashk).

Sorry to the person who may have already suggested it. I really don't think it has been introduced though.

Probably 100 times now (if not more). A new "Droid Handler" profession idea has been brought up, and reasonably well 'smashed', in the past.

So, going on the guess-o-matic that this has not been brought up, the DCE can earn the more advanced droid certs and blueprints. The regular DE's can make combat droids for all other classes but the DCE makes his own. Everytime someone launches a similar idea, I have to keep going back to the same reply:

Adding a new profession will mean a whle, new big profession with big, bad bugs and issues to balance ad nauseum.

Adding a new profession is a "WOMBAT" (Waste Of Money, Brains And Time)

Adding a new profession will not solve/balance our class as well as simply finishing (correctly) the current DE profession.

Don't create something new to have to fix when you can simply fix what's already partly done.

Honestly, to all the DE's concerned about the "Dabbing DE's" does this sound like a step in the right or wrong direction?

Wrong.

Not at all....I think you'll find the veteran DEs (especially members of the DEA) to be quite helpful and not derisive. We're all big enough boys and girls to hear this stuff and not launch into a flamefest (possible exception: EricTheGreat /jk).

I'd recommend, especially in this profession forum, that you read through a most all of the stickys and just research in general.

The DE profession has a lot of really strange issues and has to almost be dealt with on a special basis (witness: TH's comments that we potentially 'touch' most any aspect of the game).

Not on my watch!

Seriously though, this is an idea that has been tossed around time and time again. This idea will get strong opposition no matter how it is brought up.A lot in the community would rather invest the rest of their skill points in to a combat profession, to gain droid certs, then to see a Droid Handler type profession.

Let us also look at this from the stand point of the DEV team and how they have handled expansion content thatcould have been marked for additional professions. The City Planner profession was dropped because there weren't enough city buildings and content to justify a new profession. Vehicles were given to Master Artisans because there wasn't enough content to justify a Vehicle Engineer Profession. From past experiences, if a Droid Handler type profession was pushed for, all that it would lead to is turning our current profession into what the DE community currently says that it does not want to see.

I'm sorry, but I can not give any support to such an idea that the community has time and time again stated that it does not wish to see come to fruition.

Drashk,

Thanks for your view on this. I think it's important for all DEs to know where you stand on this, since we need to know the mind of our new Correspondent.

For me, I leave no options off the table. I've just never seen anything close to a compelling argument for how such a scenario would play out.

If I ever saw one, it might make me consider the options. I'm just too afraid that too many things could go wrong (bugs, balance issues) with a new profession.

BAAAAAD Idea! If I have to spend any more skill points just to do what I should already have to do I would probably find the person who did it and smack them with a very large rotten fish. Try to get that smell out'a your hair!

Anyway can we get a sticky that says in the title: no new droid handler/elite professions or else! so quit thinking about it!

The community, in the latest poll, has already stated that it does not wish to be a combat profession. From past examples, as stated, the DEVs would more than likely bow out and opt to turn DE into a DE/DH combonation instead of creating an entirely new profession. Until the point in time that the community makes a resounding wish to be turned into a Droid Handler profession that crafts, I can not offer support to such an idea. This does not mean that I will not bring this item up for the DEV team, if asked.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that the more dissension that there is within the community, the longer the entire process could take.

so would you do a Elite-Elite DE class if it only took up App Points instead of Skill Points?

No.

You might as well drop this. You're not likely to 'sell' it to anyone here, mah man...
