Should combat droids have the option of being equipped with weapons made by weaponsmiths and armor made by armorsmiths? Yes.

Should only droid engineers be able to attach weapons and armor into the droid's system? Yes.

Thanks.

I'm a big fan of the whole collaberation/interdependancy thing. I'm all for combat droids requiring armorsmith/weaponsmith parts (though they should only be installable by DE's).

I'm only for it if ALL the other crafting professions get screwed as well. We have by far the highest interdependency of all of them. I'm with Thunderheart in the idea that either we go down, or everyone else goes up.

If they all don't get the shaft in terms of having to rely on each other for parts, then I'm entirely against us getting more interdependency

I think that DE's should be able to make a low-end blaster module of some type (we can make CDEF's, as they'realready located in the artisan tree), but any higher end blaster/energy weapon type modules should require components from weaponsmiths.

I'd think it acceptable to have the Interdependancy from the other Professions for these items. I'd love to be able to put a flamethrower on an R-2 (type) unit.

Otherwise, we'd have to craft some generic weapon parts to get the type of damage the customer would like the Combat Droid to have. Armor would be a bland item to craft, yet the current droid armor system is fair enough. Maybe SOE could give us a "R.I.S. Armor"-type quest too?

The problem is DE requires more help from other proffessions than any other I have experienced. What does a weponsmith or a amorsmith have to buy from us to be able to make their product?

I like interdepenency with the crafting classes, but it is just way over lopsided right now. DE's are the only ones to really require anything from other classes (protocol frames are a joke, only so much demand for these). My 97% droid storage compartments actually decayed off my vendor with the new time limits on vendors, they don't sell very well.

Either take dependency out or make everyone class need things from the other classes.

I'm no where near a droid engineer, and have only dabbled in other crafting professions, but I have a few ideas. Maybe it will be dumb, maybe it won't, but here goes.

Make high end crafted goods require the precision of a crafting droid. Here is how it would work with an example. The T-21 rifle could be made by hand, or it could be made with a Weaponsmith operating a crafting droid. (Each crafting droid could be assigned one specific schematic, in this case the Weaponsmith assigns it the "T-21" schematic.) The droid and crafter have to both be by the crafting station, and the crafter simply clicks "create item" on the droids radial dial. Works just like a crafting kit. BUT, the reason other crafters would want them is they have a minimum of 15% effectiveness and good Droid Engineers could work them to upwards of 20% or so on a regular basis.

So, this would give incentive for crafters (including Droid Engineers) to have droids help them with crafting high end goods. (Not all schematics could be used, only certain high end ones.)

Just an idea.

Well since droids have armor modules, what's the point of an armorsmith? What they could do is add the ability to equip droids with weapons after you make them so you'll be able be change it incase you find a better weapon. They also could add a combat knowledge module of some sort that only allows the droid to use certian weapons.

Something like this was mentioned above. I agree that weapons that combat droids use should have to be made by Droid Engineers, butcan use weaponsmith (parts) also. This would make it so weaponsmiths don't dominate the Droid Weapon market. DEs should not have to use Weaponsmith weapons though. Should a a Droid Engineer or Weaponsmith be able to make the best flamethrower?

For example. Draft Shematic for a Droid Combat Rifle = a rifle from a select group of rifles that can be used and a droid to weapon wireless linkage port

ONLY the DEs should get this shematic. DE should also be able to make some of the rifles required for the DroidCombatRifle.

Agree? Disagree?
