You are certainly not alone. They should come up with real combat droids. I have not seen one of the existing droid fight in the movies (except the Probot of course, which even in the movie was killed with one shot).

Give us real combat droids to craft!

Development 2: Droid Invasion

Welcome to Star Wars Galaxies second In Development overview. During the first 3 months of 2004, there will be many upcoming game features up for addition and design changes. The second will be a set of changes made to the game world that will add combat functionality to Droids.

There are two parts to the "Droid Invasion". The first component is the adding of combat functionality to droids with "combat modules" that can be crafted by Droid Engineers. The second component will be a reiteration of the Droid Engineer profession. In Development ideas will be considered for the month of January and planned for implementation in Late February. Points of focus will be:

Droid Combat Functionality

  • New Combat Droid Models
  • Combat Module ideas and basic rules for combat modules for all droids

    Things to Consider

  • The role of combat droids in MMO combat and
  • The repair of combat droids and the crafting of repair kits
  • Droid combat and owner's Faction modifiers

    Droid Engineer Revamp

The Droid Engineer profession will be reiterated as much as possible with a focus on combat droids. Many of the existing profession issues are In Production and will be In Test In January.

Just for clarification, the Probot was not beat in one shot. When it came under fire it immediatly relayed the coordinates to the Empire and self destructed.

In fact, there was an entire scene in ESB that never made it into the movie where the Probot solo'd one of those big snow critters that captured Luke. The movie Probots are much more like the pre-nerf Probots than current SWG Probots.

Yes, so it could become droidemon, and all the nerf callers turn there attention from the CH's to the DE

This is of course before you wonder why the Empire is happy to let rebels and neutrals alike own armoured killing machines that could be used to fight the emperors rule....

I'm not saying I'm againsr combat droids, I'm just very worried about how they will be implimented

    Didn't know that :-)

Where did you see that scene? Or did you just read the script?

In ESB, Han states that "he didn't hit[the probot]that hard.... must have self destructed."

"You Droid Engineers have had to suffer through some tough times. The Devs do not hate the profession and have plans to address some of the larger concerns."
