Thread: DE Snapped
I think I've snapped... potential customer ask question, I tell em to go read the forums or the manual. People want droids, I say go find someone who likes to make them. The only thing I do now is log on to manage my harvesters to get material for my last little grind to master, but why? I'm not gonna re-up my account and it's over in two days.
The reason I'm writing this is simple. I have no where else to share my frustration with anyone else who may understand. It is a sad state of affairs when the more you learn about a game, the more you start despising it. This last month of playing has been 90% frustration and 10% fun, and I cancelled my account midway throughthe month but kept playing to get my money's worth and to see and hope that things would improve. The big killer to my fun was factories.. no longer could I start running 100 gp modules and go hunting. No longer was it worth the loss of sanity trying to produce seekers and probes for BHs, as invariably the production of these would cause the factory to bug.
There's really not enough that can be said about how the quality of a game at the release date will forever color the game's success. That massive multiplayer WW2 game never survived its release cuz of bad quality, and while this game will survive easily, it is forever tainted and won't be anything like what it COULD have been. I am amazed that Sony would release the game like this, and forever saddened by it too, for I'm kissing the last two months of my life goodbye and not takingvery manypositive memories away... It feels like leaving a bad marriage.. something you can't believe is happening but at the same time you know it's best for you.
Signed,
The Depressed DE
All the DE's that I leveled with are now gone. I only remain because my RL best friend is stubborn. Not even that will hold me for long though.
I believe sony's working on it, but I also believe that not enough people are working on it or something is causing the progress to grind along at a snails pace. Which again goes back to my belief on how important it is not to release games like this too early.
Strange psychology I am noting at work in my brain here... common sense is telling me "Hey, you're not having fun so quit," while the fighter is saying "You've worked too hard to quit yet, look at all the time you stand to waste!"
But how much more time do I stand to waste doing something I'm rapidly learning to loathe? This poor **edit** I made a data droid for last nite to hold his pets in ended up releasing it loaded with 30k in pets, and a couple probots which may have been prenurf... he wanted another, but after hearing his story combined with how I feel about the game already before hittin any problems in-game today, I just quit.
Anyone for DAOC?
I had a good e-mail today. It went something like this:
"Hey... I heard you can make droids. I would like to place an order for a Binary Load Lifter withmax medical module, max item storage, max data storage and a food/chem crafting station please.
Thanks, and let me know when it's ready."
Now... if you really want to see how useless and confusing parts of the DE profession can be, just write the response to that customer. ![]()
Budakahn, I can't tell you how dead on you are. I am in the EXACT same position, lgging on to do the stupid harvs so I can grind it all for master, BUT WHY. I hate it.
Good bye last2 months of my only life.
I yell at people all the time, just because they ask me for droids!! HA! I'VE SNAPPED!!!
HAHHEHEHEHEHOHOHOHEHEHE
Amazing that SOE can make Mythic look good, ehe Budakhan?
Personally I belive Mythic's Lie's and carroting to there community is un-paraleled, but SOE's in-ability to straighten this game out in a timely manner is getting it close to the top of my $6!t list
LOL Jabetha. That email is priceless.
Actually, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Why am I doing this grind? Will it be worth my while in the months to come, when I've actually gained some real skill in the professions?
*sigh*
Lol...but what's better is when you make another droid, then the customer gets it and something doesnj't work on it taht worked two days ago, OR you find out about a new bug that you had NO idea about..
I did the harvester thing, i'm STILL doing the harvester thing and I'm a master. It doesn't end =P
Only reason I enjoy this is because I actually like making droids. I like being able to say "hey, i'm a master droid engineer' and the place i'm at, i get lots of business.
/shrug
I'll tell people like it is tho, this profession is bugged and any droid you get may not work =P
