Thread: Am I the only one that's actually -enjoying- Droid Engineering?

Seems like everyone is just complaining and quitting the game.

Now not to say that there aren't things to complain about, I complain a lot myself, but even as it is, Droid Engineering is still my favorite class to play. I get so stoked out everytime I gain a new level just cuz I can make new droids.

Like Blueprints 1, I don't care that the DZ70 has only 40HAM, I wanted to have one. Just getting novice, I was so happy that I could actually make a mouse droid. Now I have production 1, and I can make my own private crafting stations. Item storage 2 modules, and now I have 4 droids that act as inventory for my "company".

I am just really stoked about this entire profession. And with the tells I keeprecieving from people placing orders for droids, it is obvious that are class, tho broken, is not worthless. Even with all the screw ups surrounding our profession, a Droid Engineer is still someone that people want to come to.

I dunno. I love my CH skills and taming new pets and stuff... but as of right now, my favorite thing to do in SWG is to pull out my Treadwell droid Fusion who's loaded up with a weapon / droid / generic item crafter, and grind out some R5 units either for customer orders, or just for the exp, and when I'm done, calling out my R5, DZ70, Treadwell, and MSE LeBeauInc-Inventory droids and stashing an inventory of supplies on my characters.

I dunno, maybe I just appreciate the little things in life (as DE is definatley a little class right now, hehe), but just all the little things I can do right now are just adding so much enjoyment to the game, and way less frustration than losing my Storm Trooper in a PvP battle because all the other guys ever do is spam knockdown.

Yup, me too. You guys go ahead and leave, I see my demand increasing already as people tell me there's no DE's anymore.

I have just reached 3/2/0/4 in Droid engineering and I cant believe how much easier things have got.

Its so tough to grind that first half but I can see things being much easier from now on.

Yes there are problems, yes we need fixing but I honestly can say I had a lot of fun last night.

DE and loving it

I've been a droid engineer for a few weeks, and I'm having a great time with it. I sell several droids a day, and I generally craft them on harvester runs, so I'm not just sitting and griding. I'm also getting out and doing quests and sightseeing, so I'm not getting burnt out on crafting.

I too love the profession. I'm one of the handful of DEs on Shadowfire, that is slowly creeping up to the top. About an hour after the reload this morning, I will be hitting 4/3/1/4. Yes the class has some problems, but it also has a lot of room for growth. I'm just now really getting the hang of keeping up with the demand that there is for a well made droid, and there really is a demand out there.

Most professions are still fun as you're building up and feel like you're gaining more. I can give you a few hints of why you don't understand what people are complaining about First these are people who have been Droid Engineers since the start of the game. We've lived through nerf after nerf of an already broken profession, gradually taking away the few useful things we had. If you never had these things to be taken away, you didn't suffer the pain of building up for them and losing them. Another thing is it's a totally different game at Master Droid Engineer. Higher droids aren't that easy to put together. Expect to sit around 25-30 minutes doing one (that's when you have all the specifically named resources you need), and have it so the functions aren't working or in the game yet for them anyway and do nothing more than your Mouse droid. It's hard to understand what one hasn't been through. As you're a newer Droid Engineer, you'll never be able to understand what we had and lost, but maybe if things stay the same for a few months and you master pretty fast and come back and tell us you're still having great fun, then I'll listen a little more. Of course they won't stay the same, we're getting some fixing up so you might never have to deal with the worst of it.

<humor>Yes, and we "new" DEs never had to walk 15 miles to the crafting stations, uphill both ways, in a stinging blizzard with rancors bearing down on us either.</humor>

Actually (and not just in DE), I have been around since launch week (not the 1st, i mean, 2nd day, but the first week), and I have been around through many of the wrenching changes. At first, it was ruining my playing experience, but then I took a deep breath and accepted that the only constant in this game is change. I'm enjoying what I have now, but I always keep in mind that it could change at any time. That's why I'm able to have fun - not because I'm so new that I don't know any better, but because I'm flexing with the game changes.

I am also enjoying the profession. I could have made MDE weeks ago if I just went the grinding path. Heck It would only take me a few hours to hit it now if I chose to grind. But I guess I have taken a different aproach to this profession than the typical grinder. I am actually selling everything I make (aside from the mouse droids i had to grind through) I can barely keep up with the demand and when the seekers and arakyd droids have multiple charges I know there is no way I could keep up. (Please fix the factorys becuase I do refuse to grind out GP mods and so forth.)

What makes me laughare the MDE's that are broke. All I can say to those folks is, if you would have sold some of what you made instead of having a grindfest you would have millions inyour bank. I speak from exp.

I've been having lots of fun building droids. I have been spending about 1 night a week grinding for a few hours, get a new skill block, try out new stuff, then go back to te other things I'm doing. My personal opinion is that one can't survive as DE alone spend a week running harvestors, doing missions, having fun, spend a few hours building scrap droids to make the next skillblock..

i, personally on the intrepid server, am truely enjoying being a droid engineer. its fantastic to make new droids and i get excited about it.. already i have orders of seeker droids,, everyone wants. most BH's are starting investigations back up again and i am happy for them,, though they are a pain to make,, but who cares..

I still enjoy the game, and I enjoy making droids. I am annoyed at the logic impaired knee jerk response of the Devs to anything that seems fun or useful. I don't forsee being so annoyed that I'll quit the game, but I may stop selling droids, I may just make them for my friends.

The probots were never as abusive as the non-CH pets are now.

The data module mission nerf was silly its not as though players don't actually have to do the missions.

I would rather see limits on data module pet storage rather than an outrigt nerf.

The vendor nerf is really gonna hit all the "player economy" hard, so that too is annoying.

I just would be happier if the Devs would put a little more thought into the logical consequences of their changes before they nerf, and I probably wouldn't even complain if they would put something in (anything... a use for protocol droids) every time take something out.
