Thread: Need help with a Tanking droid

Since you are BH, you more then likely have a fairly high DPS. The only way that droid will be useful to you, as a tank, is if it can do more damage then you can, so that it can pull using the Hate system.
What I recommend is a 600 Combat Rated R3 and a crate of at least 10 Droid Repair Kit Ds. Since anyone can use Repair Kit Ds and they have their own timer, of about 15 seconds, they are quite useful to keep the droid going.
You could also try a 535+ Combat Rating Probot, however the problem with the Probot is that it stays at range and tends to more around a bit. If it draws hate, you will more then likely need to chase the droid around to heal it, which can cause you to break some of the BH specials that require you to be standing still.
Like the above poster said, best tanking droid we have is an Advanced R3, because of the high Health bar.It holds up to six modules. Do you want it mostly for a meatshield? If so, 5 auto repair modules and one combat module is best. One combat module assures you the droid wont run. If you want it to dish some damage I suggest an advanced probot, which takes up to 5 modules, with 4 combat modules andone auto repair. Also, like the above poster stated, droid armor is borked at the moment.

Actually, since I'm a BH most of my targets are Jedi. Problem is, some of them have force cloak which makes them unattackable until they decide to hit me with force choke or a KD. Incidentally, if another player/mob is near said Jedi, they can't cloak. I could put myself at that range, but then I get a light saber upside the head. I was hoping I could have a droid do that for me.
If I put the droid on chase, the Jedi won't be able to cloak. Pretty soon tho, they'll figure out what's up and start attacking the droid. So what I need is a droid that will follow a target no matter what and still be able to take a beating. I figure my Jedi will "hate" my droid enough to attack it instead of me, so I don't have to worry about agro-ing by over damaging. If the Jedi goes for me instead, I can just kite as per usual, but as long as the droid stays on him, he won't be able to cloak again.
So basically my droid won't need to be doing any sort of damage, just be able to take it, heal himself as neccessary, and not run away as they tend to do.
Would I still need a combat module in the droid to make sure he doesn't run away? Or is PvP handled differently and he'll "follow target" regardless if another player is hitting him? I also hear that certain models give bonuses to abilities: which droid gives bonuses to healing itself?
Thanks for the input ![]()
Player damage on droids is not mitigated, big deal for you.
1400 points of damage per strike.
1 droid repair kit every 15 seconds.
29xx health bar.
auto repair every ten seconds.
In my tests i have been able to heal it once and the auto repair has never ticked, i didnt use normal healing stims though so maybe that could keep it alive a bit longer.
I feel that there is also another form of tanking droid.
You can increase the Auto Heal rate by increasing the number of Auto Heal Modules in a droid. It will reduce the damage done by the droid but the constant autohealing still pulls the aggro as would a Doctor or Medic using large stims etc.
If the Droid has sufficient HAM you can protect it using Armour Modules (which are currently being re-worked) it will sit and take the damage allowing a ranged profession at a decent distance to take pot shots etc in a controlled and reasonably safe manner.
However if you are a Smuggler, Commando, Bounty Hunter the use of "Boom Bots" can do significant damage to a target before you even engage giving you an upper hand in the conflict especially against a more significantly difficult opponent.

What might a droid's health and heal rate be with 6 auto heal modules?

I don't like the sound of "re-worked"
My guess is that it's currently broken but being looked into?

Actually I have a crate of these. LastI had heard a 50k credit droid does about 1k damage in PvP (which is of course reduced if my target is running improved Aura). As soon as that hits, my target can give himself a 1500 stat heal and be right back up to full health and only a negligible dent in his force pool. Basically what this means is that Bounty Hunters have to result to "attrition" tactics: basically wear Jedi down until their force pools (which control saber attacks, aura, force run, force powers, heals, and just about everything else a Jedi can do) drain. In order for a one-time use droid likea boom-botto be successful, it would have to hit hard enough to nearly incap a Jedi at full health.
If my boom-bot wouldn't nearly incap my target, a Jedi's alternative option might be just to force cloak and become unattackable again, which puts me right back to where I started. What I really need is something that will be able to follow and not be destroyed to prevent cloaking.
Thank you for the insight on stacking heal modules tho
