Thread: A big reason that I don't use my Probot Droid
Probots are good cheap sources of damage. If your group or guild is killing something big, then while everyone is doing 500-3000 dmg shots, the probots would slowly add damage. Not enough for aggro, but little pinging. Most CHs don't want to risk sending in their cat or rancor as they MIGHT gain enough aggro and be killed.
(talking about a huge boss fight where the guy easily puts out2000 damage per round)
The probot wont engage unless it has a fresh battery, other pets will complain but still engage!! My probot get attacked more often than i do when just walking past reds!! what is up with that i could have bypassed three fights today but the reds attacked my probot, not me, not my sludge panter, my nearly useless probot!!!!!
and if you really think 50 points of damage will swing the battle you must be sniffing something!!
Metal is stronger than Meat, Meat Dies, Metal gets recycled.
UN-NERF THE PROBOT, FIX DROID ARMOUR, FIX THE MODULES

But there is no risk. Pets don't die. You just have to recall them from the data pad. If the pet is totally beat down, surprisingly it only takes a few minutes for them to be fully healed, sans wounds, in the data pad.
I'm not encouraging the idea to Nerf CH's (as I am one), but I did want to point that out.
Maybe there could be some other benefit from operating a droid. At least give people the combat experience which the droid acquired.
The best use for a Probot is grouping with them when you are attacking things you can kill solo. And want combat exp not scouting exp. Here are a few numbers that I've witnessed. Fighting a Vynock solo no pet. 235 weapon exp, 12 hides harvested. Fighting a Vynock with Probot grouped, but not allowing him to attack, 295 weapon exp, 6 hides harvested.
Against a Foaming Vynock, 820 weapons exp,20 hides harvested. With pet grouped but not attacking, 1025 weapon exp,9 hides harvested.
However, as soon as the pet starts firing, he's eating in to your exp. So probots are great for the extra 25% weapons/combat exp, as long as harvesting is not as important, and you dont need any help with the mobs.
I'm not a DE, but I thought I'd share some feedback. I bought a Probot droid today (for what I considered to be a great price....... 10k new in box). Well it's ok. It doesn't do much damage, but it keeps up with me and the rock beetle. But there is a BIG difference between it and the beetle. When the beetle kills/wounds something I get Creature Handler EXP. When the droid kills/wounds something it reduces the XP that I get, and I don't get zip.
This problem would probably sort itself out if I had maxed out my skills (as many players have done), but I have not. Incentive is a big Incentive.....
There's a few issues mentioned here, some more vaild than others.
1. He steals my XP.
If you're fighting something that you can solo, then you shouldn't use anyhing, you should solo it. Probot is really there to let you fight things you couldn't already.
2. He does little damage.
True, but more is better. It's a little bit that adds up in a long fight. Not great, but not harmful.
3. He takes forever to heal.
In my opinion, this is the only problem with the probot. His wimpy attack means that he doesn't steal as much xp as a pet, but tanks about as well, if you don't take into account the recovery time. 800 is a lot less that 3k for HAM, but 40% resists, medium armor is also a HUGE equalizing factor.
4. I get Creature Handling experience using my beetle. True, but the probot is more targeted towards the non-CH. If you're just talikng XP, then I'll mention that I also make better XP by selling probots at 5 cred each. The fact is that if you want CH XP, you don't want a Probot.
I dunno, probots are nice to have around, but thay aren't currently solving any problems. I think once repair tools work like StimPacks, we'll have a superior tanking machine.
