With all this talk about Droid Handlers i think that if there dead set on putting it in it should be a Elite Elite profession. Seeing as we make them we would know how to control them best, This would also prevent everyone from trying to go Droid Handler right off the bat because they would have to grind past droid eng first. Although id still like to see some more combat droids for everyones use. I know they say that there in the works but they haven't posted anything in our boards about them. Funny that everything we learn about our profession is found on the CH board or the SWG boards. Lemme know what yall think of this.

no, droid engineers would make droid handlers pets just as BEs make CH. except we would be more in demand.

I like the Cert idea, as you progress through a profession you will be certified to operate different droids.

I already know this. But it doesnt make sense. Droids arent animals and it would just be stupid that we could build these droid but could not use them. Creature are a different story they have brains of their own unlike droids which are programed.

If they go that route i will quit!! we have already paid our dues we should not have to waste even more skill points on another fricking class!!!! It is not enough that our droids are expensive to build, we have to be master artisans just to be able to build them. We need the ability to use our own droids they are not stupid animals. they are machines that follow a set of insturctions!!!

i apologize to all my friends but i second that notion, they add droid handlers and i ormy customers cant use my droids i quit the game becuase they will screw up the star wars universe, hell, they already have, i dont know why i havent quit yet. glutton for punishment i guess. *shrug* thy should fix the droids not screw the game up.

Even if I supported having a "droid handler" class, I'd have to point out how logistically stupid this scheme is. Look: if someone who handles droids has to first grind all the way through DE and then get into droid handling, first, you'll never be able to use any droid until you're already a MDE. Who would be stupid enough to invest millions of credits worth of time and resources to become a DH when you can't do anything with your DE skills until you're done with MDE, and by extension, who would be stupid enough to become a DE at all? Furthermore, if every DH is also a MDE, then exactly who would we sell droids to?

I'm clinging to some vague hope that Holo was feeling malicious and threw out the "Droid Handler" idea just to watch all of us run around and scream with smoke pouring out of our ears. It just doesn't make any sense.

I would have to drop DE altogether.. I picked DE to make AND play with droids... If it comes down to it, I would rather play with em than make em..

Software Engineer - NOT an elite class but one that can suppliment the Droid Engineer

Any class in the SWG Universe can use a droid - its pretty easy, you buy it, someone tells you the command list or you program it to understand your commands and then you issue commands.

Enter the Software Engineer - he takes the blah standard Probot from the Droid Engineer and/or Droid Brain and/or other components and begins to work his/her magic by programming the routines needed to utilize new special functions. The droids can be set apart from one another by having special logic and/or functions added that make it more useful, better attacks, better recon, better all around, etc.

Now to really spice it up - allow the Droid Engineer to get components from other crafters and use them in the assembly of the droid -

New attack types for combat droids - a probot that has a DX-2 component added as the weapon so it does Acid now instead of energy or a FWG5 added so it does Heat....or lets go all out and put in a Lightning canon for Electricity....hehe....now mind you the components added are useless unless a Software Engineer can program the code to activate it........

A good use for the power droid, Sotware engineer can customize the patrol points to check for a harvester that has he same master/owner as itself to see if it can deposit power or maint.

A good use for the BLL, see above, same thing applies if the Software engineer programs it.

Don't make certs for droids, you don't have to get a cert to use the computer you have in front of you now nor did you have to get a cert to add that printer or hard drive and no one is going to make you get a cert if you are going to add ram....but...if you want your computer to reach out to your ReplayTV box, download the latest recorded episode of Stargate SG-1, burn it to a DVD+RW and then remove it from the ReplayTV all so you can have an archive of the show...you better get a Software engineer to do that because it doesn't come standard.

Well personally i dont want the DH profession to be implemented at all i think we should all be able to use whatever droid they put in period. Like every DE has pointed out there program not trained. But they dont seem to listen to usat all. i just think it would be stupid not to be able to use a droid i make.

Should Droid Handlers appear, I'll stop making droids. I can't afford more skillpoints towards this.

Guess I'll just go the combat route then.
