I'm sure its burried someplace deep inside this forum.. but, i'm going into the DE profession, and was hoping that somebody could take the time to type up here on this thread items in the DE tree that are good for grinding out xp.. please include skill-column, tier level, and item name information.. and if you know it, the resources required to make the item.. this would be a huge help! thanks all.

Seriously -- unless you are sadomasochistic or have a Droid fetish there is no need to crank MSE after MSE after MSE until your fingers bleed, only to get up to Advanced Blueprints so u can grind advanced droid frames until you go mad to become master! ...I would STRONGLY recommend staying away from this profession until it becomes fixed, and we have some decent droids to craft/sell.

Hmm.. i dont know whether to thank you or what.. i'm assuming by your post then, that MSE droids are the way to go for the first few tiers?..

Its like this.. I surf through almost ALL of the profession forums.. despite the fact that I haven't tried a lot of them.. and know something funny? Every profession is broken in some way or another.The obvious evidence to support this claim, is that every forum has a correspondant to collect bug information, profession exploits, balancing issues etc..

The professions are like a group of defective bicycles.. one is missing a seat, one is missing a wheel.. one is missing some spokes.. others just dont even have a frame..

I'm going DE because I think that it will be a fun profession to master in the end.. Anyhoo, I'd prefer not to rant on and on about how some professions are worse off.. (*cough Squad Leader cough*) I was hoping for some information on grinding xp.. since my mind has already been made up about DE's.

Advanced Frames: 462 points (using practice), 150 Steel and 70 Fiberplast. It's in the far right column. I'm sorry but I'm not 100% on the row in which it appears, but I'm thinking it's the second. I'm not sure on advice for what to use before you reach that spot, but really you have no option other than MSE droids (the only ones you can make).

You receive a 5% bonus in the Xps for crafting items in practice mode.

The below listed wayof grinding seems easier for me then some of the macros I have seen developed and posted. Remember in grinding, you don’t need to experiment and you don’t want to be near a crafting station or that window will keep popping up. Also if you are just going to grind, over all quality of the resource matters not. You can use any ole steel, fiberplast, etc.

Preparation:
1. You need anywhere from 3 to 4 crafting tools to make your single item.
2. Place each crafting tool in a separate “F”-key slot (left-click on the tool and drag it to the key slot. I am going to assume you are using the F1 through F4 keys).
3. Make sure you have all the items needed to make your product in your main window and not stuffed in your backpack, in the bank, or on your droid.

Six Step Grinding:
First, make one item that you want using the practice mode setting. Making the item once, the long way, sets the item’s highlight bar and practice mode in each of the crafting tools (it was nice of SOE to do this for us).

1. Hit the F1 key (this should bring up your first crafting tool). The item you want to make should already be highlighted from your first creation of the item.
2. Hit the Return Key.
3. Double click on the resources needed. (You do not need to move your mouse again except to go back and forth between the resources.) (I use the Change View button here, less movement of the mouse when the items are listed horizontal.)
4. Hit the Return Key. (You still should be in practice mode)
5. Hit the Return Key.
6. Hit the Return key

1. F2
2. Return
3. Double click (on each resource needed)
4. Return
5. Return
6. Return

F3, rinse and repeat.
F4, rinse and repeat.

If you have 4 crafting stations you have now made 4 items in about 30 seconds. (Of course this depends on how many resources you needed for the item and how long it takes to create the item.) I hope this helps.

DE is by far the most broken profession there is, I've been pretty much all of them (except BH, commando and ranger). Merchant comes close by uselessness heh.

Anyway, the problem with DE is basically that you have 30 different droids that all do the same as the original mouse droid. There's no reason why someone would use an R5 over a mouse droid, they all hold one module. And it's all about the modules.

Another problem is, no return customers. Whoever buys a droid with a crafting station and medical module (if they're medics) that's about it, they'll never come back. Exception are BHs lately.

Also, we're a profession that cannibalizes on itself. A higher level DE will make a better low level droid than a lower level DE. Because of the modules as I say, a level 0 mouse droid can be stocked with a lvl 6 medical module, so who would want to buy a mouse made by a novice? This makes it that you can only hope to sell most of your droids (even the low level ones) when you're fairly high in the profession.

Another problem is, many of the droids require components available only from master Artisans, which makes you either find a friend who is that, or you'll have to waste even more skill points to get to master Artisan and supply your own components.

Thanks Gossimer, out of all the times i've sat down to grind out xp, i never once thought to put the crafting tools onto the F keys..

The Squad Leader is the most broken class. Period. From the sounds of it, even at its worse, a DE can still makemodules, and crafting stations, etc.. What does the Squad Leader get? /sysgroup. that's it. /sysgroup IS the profession. Nothing else in Squad Leader "works", if it does, its not noticeable enough. Horrible. take a peep at the SL board. I'm a SL, hoping that it will get fixed soon (like commando's were hoping a few weeks ago that they'd get buffed..) for right now though, the SL tree is a skillpoint-sink.

But I will try out DE, and I'm sure it will be a slow painful process. I'm sure I'll come back here and post how unsatisfying it is.. and then you all can say in one booming voice "I told you so". *shrug*

Hi, I read your post and thought I would add my point of view. What I've done so far to get me to Expert Blueprints is to grind the good old MSE droid. Given it only gives 140exp a droid, it requires only a small amount of 'generic' resources. Adv frames require specific resources, like steel and alot of it. Also consider a combine failure. It takes 3 MSE droids to equal 1 Adv frame in both resources and exp. Since I work hard for my crafting resources, I like the loss of one MSE droid worth of resources compared to 1adv frame. The way I figure it, time wise, is to stick with the tried and true MSE droid. If you have endless resources and cash, by all means grind the adv frame, but In the end,the easiest, fastest way to level witha minimum of resources and cash is through the MSE droid.

Doing the Naboo, Moenia - Dee'ja Peak crafting run, I can usually buy enough resources to raise an exp tier in 4-6 hours depending on the tier.

Anyway, that was my 2 cents on leveling.
