Hello every one,

i am thumer perevious owner of thumpers droids, yesterday i threw in the towel. i have closed up shop.

this is not because of the bugs, or the nerfs, or the lack of selection in our profession. but the lack of information provided, first off i had to make almost 50 droids a day for customers and then to about 35-40 of those customers i haved to spend at least 5 min explaining how to use them, or in the process of makking the droid for the customer i spent 10 min explaining how each mod works. this is pathetic. for 2 weeks i did not shoot a single thing, so i am retireing untill this is fixed there should be a manual for droid about 5 or 10 pages in the online instuction book and the same thing in the holochron.

I made my own manual, i simply typed up a generic email, mailed it to a friend who then mailed it back and i just foreward a copy to everyone i sell a droid too.

Am working on a kinda FAQ atm also, describing what the different droids can do and what chips/modules do and how to custom order a droid for those who constantly ask me "I want a droid, but what can they do?"

Problem solved

Most of us have a manual we wrote ourselves. However you are right. Selling a Droid isn't like selling a gun. Again this is why you should price based on your time.

lol i tryed to do that too. emails can only be so long though, my manual was 7 emails long. just about took as much time. still wending the to the do customers a day thats like 350 emails, man do i hate email now.

I just tell them to read pg 141 of the manual and I never get haunted by questions or bothered with email. And when I do a followup, the customers are happy.

5-10 minutes of customer service for selling a droid that costs 10's of thousands of credits? Doesn't seem that big of a deal. However, I'd recommend you point them to one of the following two sites:

There is a manual for it. Page 141 I think. And web resources. Not sure what else they should fix. Perhaps you're right and DE just isn't hte class for you.

Easy on the guy Veri. He is just descibing very accuratly the state of the profession and how a lot of people are feeling about it right now. He is by far not alone but at lease he is putting up his experience's. If we could really get a Dev's ear, these are the posts to point out to the Devs to show that this profession is not for the casual gamercontrary to whatSOE advertised.

My guess would be that if this guy goes to another profession and it is as buggy as the DE one he will be cancelling his subscription next. I know some of you say "good riddence" to gamers that walk away from this profession or this game. But look to the future when you say that. Too many people walking away from this game mad at the proffesions, mad at SOE, mad at the poor customer support hurts all of us.

I'm a pistoleer too.

Sometimes I like going around and offing creatures to release my stress from selling droids

But mostly I like the pistol skill to remove annoying creature lairs preventing me from building my harvesters.

First of all, I didn't realize I was hard on the guy. Second of all, what frustrations did he "accurately state" about the profession? That you have to teach your customers how to use the droid they just spent 20K+ on? I don't see how that is an indicator of the class being broekn (I'm not saying the class isn't broken, I just don't see this as being one of its problems). I read the guys post and what I got out of it was that he's annoyed that making and selling droids requires more time than he wants to invest and that he'd rather be out fighting. And, based on that, I figured this wasn't the class for him. Not trying to run him off, not hoping he quits. Just behing honest.

I think we, as DEs, need to be careful that we don't our frustration with the real issues with the profession cloud the entire picture.

lol well you know in fact i am 2 boxes from master pistoleer, funny you would say. i did tell customers pg 141 of the instuction book, but they still had lots of questions. heck pg 141 did not help me one bit when i learned how to use droids.

and yes my main frustration was the time it took, i was online for over 10 hours a day and all i did was craft and answer questions for 2 weeks, just the number of questions a customer would ask got to me. each person i sent a email saying the no droid have inharent funtions ( except the probot, it can attack) what a droid does depends one the mods it has in it, and no droid can heal. and then i explained all the mods and how many each droid can hold, yet almost every customer still asked me " what does this droid do?" " can my r2 attack" " what droid heals me" . most asked me right after they told me they read the email.

now i was wondering if it was my email that did not make sense so i send it to a few friends and yup it was writen in english easy to understand.

i guess i could only deal with that for a certain amount of time.

otherwize it is a good profession i have my millions and droid are fun,
