Thread: DE Broken, I agree and MAY have a suggestion, let me know what you in the field think....
The only thing I would add is to make it possible for the jawas or whoever to get that droid you just sent out in the world. A chance that the droid does not return based on distance or something like that. There have been ideas like this put forth, but keep them coming, even if you say the same thing but say it differently, new ideas may come just by looking at the same thing from another angle. Another idea like this was to have power droids as a component for a harvester or be able to have one that attaches to a harvester and powers it (no more energy requirement), but the maintenance goes up, etc. Glad you took the time to think about the profession rather than just run through it and get away as fast as possible.

First off, I am a holo DE crafter, but in doing so, have noticed just how unwanted our class seems to be. No combat droids (to speak of) that can effectively assist players in doing missions. The non-combat droids seem to be desired by medics and other crafters, and then, just rarely. In speaking with my guild an idea popped up. Let me first give you some back ground on this idea. I am a die-hard Star Wars fan. I own these films several times over and have every book (in english mind you) out there. And weather it be in the movies, or in the expanded universe of books, comics and games one point is clear when it comes to droids - they (for the most part) are created to assist the living flesh and blood population of the galaxy. So with that in mind, here is an idea for the devs (and I really hope some of them read this) and I'd like input from my fellow DE's out there - take it to your friends, customers, cities and guilds - see what they think and bring it back to the board. Lets get the dev's attention this time....and here we go
One of the biggest complaints I hear from people is the time it takes to run to this harvester, pick up resource, deposit power and credits, and run back. We all haveheard this (I've said it myself several, no, several HUNDRED times) and experenced this fact. So, how about droids that run these errands for us (or our customers)? Now I'm not saying they are able to jump planet to planet (gotta remember Jawas and other such....salvage operators ^_^ ) but if you could set up a droid with waypoints downloaded, much like you would download and schem into a factory, deposit power and credits, set it to maintain a certain level of maintance in each harvester, and return with the resources. Droids doing what the Star Wars galaxy meant them to. Now we don't actually need to SEE the droids doing the work, it would just leave (disappear) out of whatever structure it was based in and in a certain amount of time (again, just as factories take certain amounts of time to make items) it will reappear at the house with resources in tow. Now granted, that means that the person owning the droid would have to make sure that the droid is maintained, i.e. battery power (again, hopefullymore sales for us poor DE's) and to move the said harvesters, the player still has to do that and update the droid with the new waypoints for that planet. This means that the player doesn't have to travel all over the planet to take care of harvesters, they just go to one spot (a structure more than likely, house, guild hall, ect, ect) This also means the player can spend more time on what they want to do such as grinding, *shudder* making items, or just stockpiling or selling resources.
Granted this is only an idea, but I think is a good one that may breathe new life into the DE profession and make it fun for the people that enjoy and have spent the time working on the profession. I would like any further ideas with this submitted as I will watch this message carefully and again, if you like the idea, post a message, then go to anyone you know and have them read this as well so we can see what they think
I don't know if we can, but lets get their attention!!!!
