Exactly. Although seeing my 3p0 with a rifle may take some getting used to, I believe over time people will accept it.

Also besides the LOM Protocol Droid series, there is the M-3PO Military Protocol Droid. Though not a fighter, if they put it in maybe it could help set up factional bases and turrets, increase accuracy in combat by being a spotter, or use light weapons.

Model: M-3P0 Military Protocol Droid
Manufacturer: Cybot Galactica
Height: 1.7m
Key Features: Military database computer, auditory sensors, photoreceptors, olfactory sensors
Notes: Built from a 3P0 body painted black, with the head of a KW traffic controller, M-3P0s are well aquainted with rules, regulations and procedures for over six million military and paramilitary organisations. They are increasingly common on New Republic bases, much to the dismay of staff - most find them just as annoying as 3P0 units.

I drug out my old copy of Essential Guide to Droids the other day and have been thinking of the possibilities ever since

One could alsoassume that C3-PO had a whimpy personality chip installed

Prissy, no?

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

None of those droids are currently in the game.

What we'll have is C3P0 shooting guns.

M3P0 doesn't fight either. It's a protocol droid, not a combat droid.

This blows about as much as their idea of combat modules that could be placed into any chassis.

Next we'll see R2D2 running around with a blaster.

It ain't right man......

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

Wasnt there an example of a 3PO droid that fought in the EU (hadan 'X' on its head)

Personally I dont mind the concept of non-combat droids having weapons fitted as long as its not a stock model (i.e. the weapon is fitted as a module) and that its not better than a dedicated combat droid

What alot of people forget is that its actually against imperial law for a droid to harm a being (Murder is a class 1 infraction, manslaughter class 2 IIRC) so as it stands pretty much _any_ combat capable droid breaks imperial law - which is quite a good reason to fit hidden blasters etc to droids because itsvery RP (because its then not blatantly obvious to those Stormtroopers over there....)

Unfortunately the 'droid wars' in the first 2 films (before the emperors rise to power) have made their mark on the players and devs

Having said that, I'd like to have the choice of equipping a bi-ped droid with a weapon (because it can always drop it when the law is around) and as a result I can see a reason to add the trade federation battle droid to the game (because it _could_ be used for other tasks), but then I also believe that DEs should have to 'break' a droids fundamental programing in order to get it to attack things (unless its a military droid, and in which case they shouldnt be trivial to get hold of)

Yeah, I think the M-3P0's main purpose is to tell you when and how your plans violate some obscure rule of engagement and would make you a war criminal. Maybe in-game they could warn about exploits. You know, "per the Galactic Armistace Treaty, section 7, subsection 4, paragraph 23, load killing is considered a class three war crime. This action is inadvisable."

Yeah, sarcasm.
