Thread: Repairing vehicles only engineers or *gasp* droids...
Wouldn't that make sense? I mean, with the player driven economy model SWG has and all. I can't go pay an NPC in town to heal my !#$&$ wounds so what the hay.
Settle down lad. No need to get all worked up on that.
Besides, that argument doesn't really hold water. Watch the movies. R2 repairs the Xwing while Luke is flying it. He also repairs the silver shiny ship in Episode 1. Furthermore R2 goes on to repair the millenium falcon's hyperdrive in Empire strikes back. You'll see pit droids working on vehicles in episode one, and an R3 fixing an Xwing in the beginning scenes of Empire Strikes Back.
No, we can't repair vehicles, but I see no reason why droids wouldn't be able to. And droids need masters to tell them what to do. Who are better masters than the Makers?
No need to go on the offensive and attack someone over a point of theory.
I didn't say Droid enginners, only enginners, like Engineering IV, if not enginners then who? A hair stylist? seemed to make sense to me.....
The only valid argument I can see against it is that it's currently a money sink...but there a million ways to create money sinks - look at all the houses, extractors and buildings out there....those are good sinks. to take money out of the economy up the maint. rates on every structure, vendor, space transportation, etc by some small percent. Repeat until you think the inflation has been mitigated some.... Doesn't even require adding content to take money out of the econo.
Oh well, not worth arguing over, it will never happen even though it makes sense. I just like the idea of players having to rely on other players for almost everything. If we can pay an npc in town for everything just to take money out of the system then let's make it so I can pay an npc medic to heal my wounds... same difference.
How about having a Vehicle Repair Module in droids?
If they want a money sink, make the droid work like a garrage - if you are in the vicinity, you can repair the vehicle, but still have to pay.
