As many of you already know, TH next week will unveil the plans for the next patch for January/February which are slated to fix our profession and add content. This should be a wonderful time to rejoice and reflect on an arduous journey that for most have been since release and for some since beta.

With that said, I wanted to thank all those many dedicated DEs who have come to this forum month after month to contribute a great wealth of ideas, profession bugs, problems, tests, stories, and to vent with some humor. While we all have our own visions of what the profession may become, we have all been very active in trying to make it a better one. Thank you everyone for that!

The group we have here on our professional forum are among the highest quality people anyone could ever have working towards one goal that for a long while seemed unreachable and forgotten on the back burners of dev priorities. The perserverance and hard work of many is about to pay off.Every DE who has contributed here should give themselves a pat on the back. /patback

With all that being said, I thought it would be great if we could look back before we look forward and reflect on some positive things (or negative if you like to flame) about being a DE you have lovedthe most or some funny stories etc.

For me personally, here are a few:

Watching first time droid owners use the follow command and run around.

Everytime I pull my R2 unit out.

First time testing a DZ-70 on a durni.

The suffering sarcasm of the member of the board. You guys almost make me laugh so hard I fall out of my chair!

The first time I took my new mobile weapon/crafting droid out for a spin (LE Repair droid I think!)

Figuring out how to remain afloat as a DE (had to run lots of missions at one point) and how to shift sales and eventually (finally!) becoming successful. Interestingly this was around the same time I found out Vendor NPCs were a lot cheaper than Bulky Vendors to run (before the vendor fix).

Hearing TH call the R3 "the clear domed R2 units"!

Thanks again everyone! The next few months should be very fun for all of us DEs!

My Memorable Moments:

The exhilaration of finally making Master Artisan (my first goal before becoming a DE); I felt all special, until I realized the coolest thing I could makewas a non-functional bird-cage...

Creating my first MSE droid! (Talkie-Toaster, I think)

My first DZ70 - It has a combat rating! So Isicced it on a durni...

Arfive-Deefour - my first crafting droid. That little guy followed me around everywhere, so I could grind ADFUs while running Survey Missions.

My first sale! Running through Bestine,some young stormtrooper asked if I could make him a probot... good thing I hade my LE Crafting Droid and all my components with me!

My first Vendor! (more a Merchant thing, I guess). I loved (and still do) the "you sold anitem" emails!

"Amoon's-Protector" - my first Advanced Probot. Still with me today (though will be retired since the probot enhancement didn't affect existing probots).

Very very soon: Master Droid Engineer!

Creating my LAST MSE Droid!

The big grin I get when my old, pre-personality-chip-nerf Probot says: "A hit, a very palpable hit!"

I'd hold that rejoy and stuff until I actually see the change being fixed and not bugged on live server.

My first color job (after spending half an hour to learn how /consent works).

After hitting Master learning, that there are more colors for chassis then the default one and different shades of a second color.

Getting 700 ditanium from fellow DE Adam Steel for making my first protocol droid.

All the funny postings on this board.

My first BLL "Kong".

My first experimenting with 10 experimentation points.

Getting 3 tells for droids the first day I hit Master DE.

All the fuzz about Sintrosi being played by a male or female player.

The patch introducing item decay.

You guys do realize that they are on their 12 month combat rebalance kick right now, right? So, when the DE changes go live, they are going to look weak as hell compaired to what they seem like they should be. If the DE changes go live before the combatchanges are finished, you will all think that you just got weak pets.

After the changes are done, you'll realize that everyone is a weakass gimp that has to group to kill a bol. lol Until then, the changes will probably look like a spit in the wind.

Before all the naysayers come in and hijack the post, I guess it is time for a rant.

Optimism on the DE boards is a key need. So many people can be pesimistic about any plan, any fix until the devs show them something. Then there are those people who for whatever reason will not be satisfied regardless of what is fixed or addedbut will come to these boards and post. Thefact that our profession will be getting ANY fixes and ANY new content and droids after a half year of really only nerfs makes me very optimistic and happy that our day finally comes.

So often many come here to say why being a DE is terrible, etc and they await to be disappointed by all kinds of things that haven't even come about.

But if DE stinks as a profession that bad why are any of us still DEs?

There are many other professions, if this one stinks, drop it. If you are a bitter holo DE I hope that grinding macro works fast so you can stop coming here with negativity (there are some good holo-DEs but they are hard to find). I would hope that there is a great love for droids from all people who choose to be DEs by choice.

That I feel is what this post is about before we start speculating on what the devs will do wrong, why we shouldnt be satisfied yet etc.This postshould be aboutareflection on the things that made you a DE, why you stay a DE and why you will love DE in the future.

Someday very soon a lot of our DE bugs will be fixed. New stuff will be added. So rejoice and know that whether or not it was your idea or what you wanted, the profession is about to get better and worked on so stop complaining or leave.

Anyways on to more stuff I love about being a DE

I enjoy making blue and white R2s for people.

I am amazed when the DE community can market the BLL to others with no specific functions. (used as advertising)

It was a great day when I finally hit $1 mil in droid sales (november) after being a MDE since august (took a while)

Possibly the best fix ever for a DE (and any crafters altogether) was when they fixed architect experimentation and we got high extraction harvesters to mine more minerals.

My first memory as a droid engineer is of my first ever crafted MSE droid getting blasted by a jawa. stupid perma-death

yeah, we could be pikemen or chefs

i'm actually enjoying DE now. i often play at off-times so a lot of times there aren't any other DEs around so i can get the tells asking if a probot can take down a rancor

but best moment...like someone said above, my last mouse. i ran through the streets of...wherever (i think it was mos somethingorother) shouting my jubilation.

soon it'll all pay off and we'll be the few, the proud, the DEs.

The first probot i got as a gift from a friend that made me finally decide the course to steer in the game.

My utter dismay when the same probot was permadeathed by a giant peko-peko in the swamps outside Moenia. (All Pekos have been on my hit list ever since)

The sadness of having to pay for a replacement and not being able to craft one for myself yet.

The joy of making MDE with the help of my friends who provided most of the minerals i required.

Being able to actually sell droids and being able to provide customer service long after the sale. (interaction with customers is my greatest joy)

Discovering crafting of droids was glitched only after having failed to make 4 (doh).

Being told that my partner and i had good reputations as sellers of quality wares at reasonable prices.

The confusion of trying to talk to six customers or would be customers at the same time when i have to go to the rest room really bad.

And hundreds more highs and lows that blend into being a DE.

I will never forget the day I logged in only to see that my vendor sold droids for over 150k credits in 12 hours. Oh, the joy! I don't know what happend that night, I sold R4s, R5, R2s lots of mousedroids and DZ70s (this was before Bounty Hunter droids were intoduced). With that money I was able to buy my first two medium harvester.

And Sparky.
I named my first mousedroid Sparky. And everytime I got a better droid I "upgraded" him. From a mousedroid to a R5, R4, R2 and now he is a shiny R3. I love Sparky.

And one day I tried to sell my lowly R5s at the Coronet Starport when a CH asked me why I sell useless droids when pets are so much more powerfull? I asked her how much storage her pet has. And what's the medical rating was. Then I explained her what droids can do.
I sold her a nice R5 with a medical 3 module and a storage 3 module. And some more droids to some bystander who overheard our conversation

Overall I had (and will have) a good time being a DE. Sure, sometimes it was really hard work and I had a lot of missions to do at the beginning. But now I have a nice medium house, some credits on my bank account and a few more friends.

umm.... You all go ahead with out me. I'll rejoice when it actualy happens. Im sick of hearing SOE talk the talk and not walk the walk.
