Droid Engineer Archive
Thread: Made a post on the General Game boards, maybe it will get seen there.
- Harvesting changes. While great for Scouts and Rangers, terrible for DE's. Who wants a droid that actually helps them Harvest less?
- Maint changes to houses. If maint comes out of structures automatically, what is the point of the maint droids that DE's can build?
- Bazaar Changes. If anybody can find what they need with the click of a button on the Bazaar, who needs a Barker Droid? Advertising is free for everybody.
- Doctor Changes. As part of the CU, Docs buffs were changed dramatically. Medical Droids were a DE's #1 seller, they are still of some use in the field, but not nearly as much as before. Yanking out our biggest market. The buff changes were needed, but something should have been given to DE's to compensate. Also with the changes to Doc buffs, no longer do people need Power Droids for charging Doc droids. Another useless Droid.
- Creature Handler changes. This one is huge. I love CH's they deserve to be totally viable, yet I don't think they are more important then DE's. Obviously the Devs feel otherwise. Droids are tied closely to the Pet system, so changes to the CH profession have a large impact. The last round of Pet changes made any droid (about 95% of them) with a radial menu non-functional. So now Pets work, but almost no Droids do.
- Then there is the Droid "Fix" from about 2 patches back. This was the most broken fix ever, the way the system operates is 100% different from the way they said it would operate. Instead of making Droids better, it removed any variety and need for experimentation or quality resources. Droid armor is still terribly bugged from this "fix." If you are going to implement a "fix" at least listen to the people who are testing it for you. All of the problems were reported before the Publish release.
I could go on and on. While DE was probably not the "most" broken profession out there previously, it has been destroyed by all of the other "fixes," for the game. So while other professions get fixed with each Publish, DE gets made worse. What type of sense is that?

Freeman rocks. He's been all over the forums the past few months.
Hello Again,
I have been a Master Droid Engineer for over a year now, and that is what really brought me into the game. I was told by all my friends at that time, that DE had alot of bugs and that I might not want to try it. However my mind was made up, and I worked on becoming a Master DE for over 2 months using personal extractors and selling droid along the way.
I ignored the bugs and tried to enjoy my profession as best I could. I would not bother crafting modules that didnt work or were made useless do to bugs or "features". However slowy, the number of modules I could place in a droid and feel good about selling to a person became fewer and fewer, due to the fact the Publish after Publish our profession got worse as others got better. I have toughed it out crafting mostlyBounty Hunter Droidsand Flight computers with a few of other types on my vendors for show. I have held out hope that our profession would get fixed some day and that it would become what I always new it could be.
Dont get me wrong I am not in the crafting game to make credits, as you would find that to be true for most of the DE's. We are in it because we enjoy Star Wars andlike making the game fell more like Star Wars, because more droids are in it. That fun though has slowly been swept away do to patch after patch of more bugs and not a single realfix. This last publish was great you finally made Creature handler a profession that could stand alone, however, you forgot one thing the Droid Engineers. From day one our droid code was so heavily tied to creature code and for what to save you a few key strokes and some time. That publish has now made more than 50% of our modules non-functional.
This scares most if not all of the DE in the forums. I know combat is the most important thing and you have to look at how many people a bug effects to rush a fix out. We DEs are not a large group and there are very few of us long term DE left, do in no small part to the bugs that run wild and untamed in our profession.
I have been informing my customers,at least three large guilds on the Lowca Server yes one DE can supply three large guild with all their droid needs, thatI am sorry your droid is not working correctly, the Devs are not concernedwithdroid bugs and are focused on"fixing theJedi/BH balance" first. If you would like to fill out a bug reportand contact aCSR that might help. In the mean time I can sell you a Combat,Medical, Data Storage with repairDroid or anAll Crafting module droidwithstorage, but that is all I have to offer. Yes that is rightall of our fuctional modules can be placed in just two droids, and to top it all offone of those droids can fuction as the Astromech for your ship.
The point ofdroids in Star Warswas tomake lifeeasier for the owner. This was done by eitherperforming a task that the owner could not do or didnt want to do, or byimproving a task whichthey couldperform. With every publish that concept slips further and furtheraway.
Harvesting changeskilled the Harvestdroid by making thedroid harvest less than the scout.Global VendorSearch killed the Barker Droid by making advertisingfree.Dancer and Musicaneffects killed theEffects Droids. Doctor buffand healing changes killed the Medical and Stimpack droids. MaintanaceAuto-Pay killed the Structure Droids.Personal andhousing item limits killed the storage droid. Level 30 droid change killeddroidvarity once and for all. I know you like to improve the game but every time youdo you take somethingaway from us.
Thanks for you time and everything you have done to make the game better for the majority of the people.
Hey guys...
Just wanted to say I'm back for now, and ALMOST dropped DE, but my PA mates convinced me to hold on to it since I'm the last one in the group. It sounds like not much has changed unfortunately, but I'm glad to see the droids are a bit more powerful now. A full blown combat probot at lvl 30 has helped my meager CL 35 skills a few times already ![]()
Anyhow, good to see some of you around still. I just wish they'd get around to adding the "Relist" button on vendors so I'll have some desire to maintain a droid vendor again. With as slow moving as many DE things are, I just REFUSE to spend my playtime restocking hundreds of items every couple play sessions! It may not be a direct DE problem, but at the moment it's my #1 DE/merchant gripe!
