What about the concept of replaceable modules? Why couldn't a droid outfitted with a storage compartment simply have the ability to eject that compartment and slide in a new one (data, medical, whatever...). Could implement in a way that would require more work. Similair to the module cluster, make a Replaceable Module Harness(RMH). This harness would fit into a regular module slot. One regular module can go into the RMH. Then when I decide to drop doctor and go smuggler, i can just take my droid to a DE and ask to have him remove my medical module and replace with a storage compartment. This way, I don't have to just buy a whole new droid, and it will be another service DE's can perform for others. Similair to swappable harddrives in computers.

I think it would be a cool idea, but I think you should be some type of expendable item that replaces the module. Like a Module Changer or something, just open up a menu on it which can replace modules automatically. Changes modules(if anything like changing hardrives) wouldn't be that hard, but I still think that the devs would not make it that easy. Good Idea though.

I don't know about that, but it would be a whole lot easier to make droids if we could make the droid, then put whatever is needed into the slots later, not make the whole droid at once.
