I believe there was a TC post about getting the R2 NOT to fire....sounds to me like R series units will not be combat capable....I'm betting that there will be other, new, combat droids but the specifics just haven't firmed up enough to be mentioned publicly yet.

Although I don't fault the Dev team for ramping things up to give the public what they want, the fact that they do not give thought as to what makes sense for the galaxy storyline based upon the movies and books makes me wonder sometimes if they are fans or not.

They should give the advanced BLL 6 slots - that should be the best existing non-combat chasis for weapons, not an R3.
I think you guys need to read the post by TH MUCH more carefully. He says they go into regular module slots, i.e. they take up space in module slots so you can't stick in these plus six crafting stations/storage modules/etc....but he specifically says that they WILL ONLY work in certain droids...so he is not saying R-series are becoming combat capable. I think we need to ask and see what the response is, but I'm betting they mean they are adding new combat functionality droids like probot chassis.
No matter what though, I am REALLY excited about these changes. This is a true positive for our community folks. We'll be useful and it doesn't hurt other classes, in fact it'll help ch since now you can have both out they are worth something. I'm impressed, stunnd, amazed...quite literally I'm bubbling with joy. I hope you all are as excited as I...it isn't a perfect world, but it'll be a much better one.

I'm quite happy with this also. I always liked using both my Gurreck or Rock Beetle at the same time as my probot. My only problem now is finding something worth using as a "natural" pet again.
The bio-engineers better gear up and find those secret recipes for nice non-CH pets.
