Thread: My droid wish... (and I'm not the only one)

Situation: I've moved into my new house in a remote town of Corellia. I wish to establish myself there. However, I originally landed in Moenia, Naboo and joined the bank there. I have room on my person for maybe 3 items, but the deposit box has almost 100.

Situation: A friend is moving into a bigger house after months. She has to figure out how to move a housefl of stuff from one planet to another.

Solution: Enter the BLL.

I'm not looking for a permanent datapad storage issue, but rather a temporary moving van. What I envision is a very specific set of commands that tie the BLL into the biggest of the "containers" in the game, namely the bank deposit boxes, and houses. In this manner, I feel that little chance of exploit will occur. For the above scenarios, here is what I envision:

Pull out BLL command to follow (BLL must be within X meters)

Access Bank Terminal - open radial, select *transfer safety deposit to Binary Load Lifter*

Put the BLL away

hop shuttle to new location

Access Bank Terminal - open radial, select *transfer safety deposit from Binary Load Lifter*

Any large "container" would get the transfer to/from provided that:

your BLL is out and within X meters (only 1 BLL active at any point)

for the "transfer from" the receiving container can hold the appropriate number of items (+1)

-- The +1 is for whena house of other structure is involved. I would dump a crate (like the magseal, make it temporary) that would have the items within, so that they can be removed and placed without the standard house issue with objects laid on top of one another.

I really want this... Please???

Sounds good to me. Not perfect maby, but better to do than not do. Im sure someone will point out any exploits or flaws if there are any.

I like this idea. It's certainly more elegant than stuffing your inventory with containers to work around that kind of problem. Thosebinary load liftersneed a gaming purpose anyway. About the only flaw, if you can call it one, is that it more or less circumvents the need for banks and belonging to them altogether. In effect you get a portable bank/house/storage-area. How detrimental is that to gameplay, having a super-big inventory at your disposal at anytime anywhere? I don't know. Safeguards shouldn't be too hard to devise, (un)loading only available at a bank or in a residence, for instance. Add in harvestor & factorylocations too formore flavor.

Good idea.

Rather similar, in fact to one of my own: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=41271#M41271

I only wish that our old ideas were already in the game, so that we could really be thinking of even newer, cooler things to come.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

Thank you all for the replies.

To Tusken. It's my hope that by having only the transfer commands and NOT having access to the BLL as a container, it will not become a portable storage unit. You'll still need to shift them from the BLL to a container before accessing any of the items

To Rho. Similar, but different. Though your experience as an engineer shines through in your proposal, I was trying to approach the problem to be as minimal impact as possible, in the hopes that it might be a first step. Would it be nice to see such advanced functionality? yes, indeed. My hope, however, is that the easier the design, the better the chance of seeing it become reality

Thank you all, again,
