Thread: Why can't something like this happen? (DE Ideas)
CH and BE do not get along because the CH want the wild creatures to be the best. but the BE's want their geneticaly engineered pets to be the best. There are twosources forthe CH to gethisclasses specialty That makes a problem. With the Droid Commando, there would be only one source for the droids, the DE. Just like with pets that are CL 10, normal people could use pretty kicking droids for combat. Also you could construct high level droids for Droid Commandos, if you wanted to, youd make money EITHER WAY, and youd still be a droid engineer.
If that idea wont work in your head then this is one i like the most, and I would love to see, It implements droidsin the SW universe like they should:
I say that in each profession there should be a cert. somewhere to allow that profession to use the droids that can be useful to them. Such as the Ad Barker droids for a merchant. Some sort of sampling or DNA calculating droid for a BE. The entertainer droid for entertainers. A more powerful medic droid for medics. For armorsmiths and weaponsmiths there should be a droid that allows weapon/armor calculations,(you input the materials your putting into your weapon/armor and it will tell you what the weapon will work like). Combat classes can get a combat droid, for ranged there can be a tank-bot, and for the melee there can be a distractor. There could be survey, or scouting/tracking droids for artisans scouts and rangers. Most of all for the crafters a harvester run droid would be great, going tot he harvester, picking up the goods you want(A BLL would be good for this) and returning.
You wouldn't need a thousand different droid models to do this. I think you should be able to do this with different modules. All of these things seem like they would make every class a lot happier so there would be a market for them, but you can always function without them.
I have a DE on Naritus that i haven't used since maybe August because first of all my account got cancelled (my brothers credit card that I was using to play got cancelled) and second of all because i don't find any joy making the same droids all the time. I really hope we can see something like what i posted above soon.

who wouldn't want to have a system like that? can someone explain the cons to me?
The truth is this IS what the vast majority of DE's wanted. A box off the master tree with skill points associated with it to control a high level droid.
This is outside the normal way professions progress and would take more program time to implement than available. Also, I think it has been nixed overall because it still isn't the skill point sink the dev's are looking for (i.e. Droid Handler).
Certifications are pretty-much off-the-table with things the way they are now. Now, if NPC AI were better, and responded with greater force to you and your Droideka than they would if you were alone... maybe that'd be the equalizer.
