Just an idea, but.....

Would be cool to see in the Droid Invasion publish, certain NPC's that took on the BH profession themselves?

Picture if you will, a small amount of rare IG-88 models (or like) that the Empire lets loose on a few planets whose sole purpose is to scan for Jedi, covert or overt Rebs, and chase them about the planet.

Perhaps BH's can compete with them, maybe as a mission on who can get their mark 1st? Maybe they can wreak havoc in cities until the local militia ora group of players take it out? Maybe they can be used by non-imp factions such as Jabba? Maybe they can be the boss at the end of a quest?

What you think?

I think that would be a tremendous amount of new code they would have to write. The AI alone would take a long time to get working properly, especially if you plan on these NPCs to be able to track accross planets and accross different server boundries.

Well maybe they wouldn't have to track across server boundries or even leave their original planet. I'm just thinking of ways to add more SW looking stuff in teh game.

The idea really stemmed from I'm sick of seeing the occasional Rebel or Imp pilot standing around in the middle of Lord knows where. Even tired of Goons and Ragtag whatevers. To see some droid NPC's with a little bite who are agressive against certain factions.

Then that started the idea that if I were a bounty hunter and tracked my mark to a planet, I would get an onscreen message that read something like: "In pursuing your target it has become evident that a BH droid is currently closing in on your mark...You have 15 minutes to capture your target, lest IG-88 take your reward." Then it would be a race against the clock, and maybe you even have to slug it out with IG-88 who appears to be closing in on your target.

I have seen the assasin droids on correlia during the first 2 months of release on star sider where clan alya resides. This droid was extremely fast and very powerful. I would like to be able to make assasin droids for bounty hunters. I would also like to see this droid back in the game as it was during the early months of release.

This engine has so much potential it just needs a revamp forthe game play and a team leader that really knows the SWG universe or a good SWG pal to influence this leader!

Main problem with your diea is that, according tothe Bantham Bookstitle,IG-88/A/B/C/D killed everyone who had any relevant data to their construction and thus are total mysteries to anyone but the most skilled of scientists. The Imperials didn't even know what had happened after everything blew up in their faces. The only "IG-88 models" that are made jump ship according to the chronology so there's no way that anything even related to the project could be out there looking for Jedi or covert rebs.

Secondly, according to chronology, the bulk of the Empire's resources are employed in finding the Rebel's newHQnot looking for small pockets of them in the wilderness. As for Jedi, Vader is 99% sure that Luke and the late Ben Kenobi (and possibly Yoda, can't really remember) are the only Jedi left after his geonocide.

Imperial Intelligence officers and various spies would be the best bet if you wanted some guys to "scan" for jedi or covert rebs. Maybe even some BHs (NPC) we haven't heard of yet so that the devs can add some more characters and leave their mark on the timeline. The Bounty Hunter's Guild is still in one piece at this point in the chronology and there are a large number of Hunters who could be conviced to do recon jobs for the Empire for relatively little money...
