Thread: In-Game Sales Boycott Is this our last / best option to affect change?????

Hey guys, while reading another threadsomething hit me like a thunderbolt. We are being pushed around and ingnored because of the low numbers of players that keep DE as their chosen profession. While we cannot change this - we do have a way to rally other players and proffesions to our cause. As is the only thing we are really useful for is supplying Doctors and Bounty Hunters. We should be known as the BH support proffession (LOL). Seriously, we need to find a way to get all the masses of BH's and Doctors behind us. Therefore may i suggest the following:

Option 1) A total boycott of any and all sales by DE's to anyone and everyone in the game. Granted this will hurt our cash flow short term - BUT will rally the other professions around our cause faster than you can say Womp Rat. Now, we can either set a specific length of time for this boycott - or we can keep it in effect unitl the DEV's listen to our plight. By crippling the BH and Doctor proffesions SOE would be forced to take action - and forced to do so soon. While i feel this is the last / best option open to us - it also the most radical and hardest to enforce. (also it would require the removal of many exisitng merchandise from vendors.

Option 2) Price Fixing - we would standardize all our droid prices to an outrageous amount (I.E. 10k per seeker droid, 250k for an R3, etc.) actual prices would be set by us here on the boards and then implemented in game. while this would take longer to effect change by the devs, it would not completely screw other players. But the new, sky-high prices would surely get their support for needed changes to our proffession.

Option 3) Bye - Bye vendors, we would only sell droids face to face, and only on certain days - like the 15th and 30th of the month. we could of course incorporate this with option 2 for a more drastic effect.

Now, to make this work we MUST STAND UNITED!!!! if only some of us support this others will just selfishly cash in. Also we would need to compile a list of demands (that would not un-balance the game) that until these changes to DE were implemented we would not lift the boycott. Yes, this would hurt us fiscally - but we could sell resources and other items in the meantime. But long term this has the power to make DE a fun, fair profession to play. WE HAVE THE POWER LADIES AND GENTLEMAN - IF WE CHOOSE TO USE IT THE DEVELOPERS AND SOE WILL BE FORCED TO FINALLY LISTEN TO US!!!!! HOWEVER I / WE CANNOT DO IT ALONE. HECK, EVEN THE DE LIASON IS HELPLESS AGAINST THE DEV'S - BUT THIS WOULD RETURN THE POWER TO WHERE IT BELONGS - US THE POOR PLAYERS THAT SHELL OUT 14.95 / acct. EVERY MONTH!!!!

Please leave your opinions and or comments - this issue needs the help of every DE in the game

If there is enough interest i will start a new thread devoted to what changes must be made to DE before we lift such a ban.

Thanks,

I've no interest in doing this. The situation is improving already. It is not improving in the most logical and rational way, but I can't have everything.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but this has been tried before (as in people have suggested a DE strike, not as in it ever actually happened)

In fact, back in August it was sort of a 'Someone's proposing a strike. It must be Tuesday' sort of thing.

Uh, how exactly is our situation improving, not only have they nerfed armor, but now they are trying to cap resists at 20% - at this rate combat droids will be so laughable people will hunt them for a laugh insted of durni. At this point i want my old tanking Probots back, and i'm sorry i ever asked Sony to "FIX" our proffesion. But thanks for the input

It's always about the probot. Try the LE Repair for a change. Today I killed several giant peko peko's on Naboo with just me and my droid.

I've tried Probots, R3's, R2's, LE's, DZ70's, heck I've even played around with a dang protocol droid equipped with combat modules. (yeah, the last one is really silly) My point here is that overall usefullness of droids has barely changed - and cetainly not enough to call this a "Droid Invasion". There are realatively few people who find the new combat droids useful. Most low level combat chars lack the funds necessary to own a droid. All high level combat chars do not need them to take out whatever they are hunting. The few in between chars out there with a moderate need for these droids are honestly better served with a CL10 mount or pet. They are cheaper, have better HAM, and can be buffed. My buffed CL10 Bantha has whipped 3 - 4 droids at once. One of the few things a Droid had over pets and mounts was it's armor. Once that was nerfed at least it had better resists. Now with dropping resist to 20% droids have little to no benefit over pets. Not to mention if Droids can't have armor - why do we need armor segments to make droid armor - that come to find out isn't even really armor?????????

But I digress, what this thread is really here for is ideas we can use to force SOE into fixing our predicament. If no one likes the idea of sales boycotts, that is fine - but can we get some thought as to how we can make SOE listen to us and FIX our BROKEN proffession???? Please guys, even though DE is busted to all get out - I really want to remain a DE, it would just be encouraging to think there was some hope SOE cared about us.

Technically we did have a "forced strike." Remember back in ...I think it was the start of october... when we had a whole weekend we couldn't make droids from deeds?

The result of this when I told people I couldn't make any droids: "Oh, ok....thanks anyway though." It didn't exactly create a public outcry.

The problem with a boycott is twofold. One, negative actions are no way to get positive attention. You may get a few fixes here and there because of it, but you can kiss any future work goodbye. The second problem is this is a game with other players. You can't make the game less fun for other players (its already hard enough for BH's to find seeker/arakyd's) just to get things the way you want them. Its the same problem that pops up with people suggesting setting hundreds of droids to patrol or getting every DE to congregate outside coronet starport to protest.

How did you manage this? I'm pretty sure Protocol Droids can't be equipped with combat modules.

I would support a strike, i think thats a good enough option and not at all aggresive.

There should definatly be a strike, if not for the hell of it, and make it april 1st.

The problems faceing droid engineer are pretty severe, atleast in my eyes, compared to other professions. There needs to be a radical solution thats completly unconventional. Im not opposed to compromise, its just that i feel our profession is being manipulated in a fashion i do not approve of. At this point we are all fairly desperate for improval, and the devs are working on it, but along with improvements are "Riders" that are keeping the profession stagnant and slowly allowing it to be made into something they have already planed.

Our strike should convey our awareness of the developers agenda, and refusal to conciede the foundation of our profession.

Our stike should be one day, were all droid engineers remove there wares from the market and refuse to take orders from customers, customers which are already sympathetic and really wouldnt mind seeing us get better.

I support a strike. Nothing more to add.

- I support the CU, the Devs and the attempt to make SWG a better game! Things about the NGE stink, but I am trying to see the forest through the trees.

You too can join the protest, change your icon to TEST CENTER !

Okay, i see your point on the negative actions of a strike may or may not get positive response - BUT do you have any better ideas????? As for BH's having problems finding seekers, aww poor them - while i have never played a BH myself, many friends and guildmates have and if that is the worst problem their proffesion has then TFB!!! BH's already get obscene cash for BH missions not to mention combat skills that make them incredibly fierce in PvE or PvP.

Now, I do not wish to needlessly cause strife for other players or the developers but constant complaining, wishing, brainstorming and ranting on the boards are getting us nowhere slowly and painfully. We as a COMMUNITY NEED to find a way to FORCE the DEV's to FIX OUR PROBLEMS. The biggest key to this problem is thinking and acting as a COMMUNITY!

As for the protocol droid question - yes you can fit 2 combat modules in the protocol droid - NOT CLUSTERS just individual modules. But is can be done for hillarious results.
