Thread: R2 and Utility Modules
I completed a run of 150 chasis about a day before the "Tin-Can Invasion" and now they are next to useless as I refuse to turn them in to sub-standard combat droids...
I have all the crafting/medical/item/data modules you could shake a stick at and nothnig to put them in..
WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED....Please..
im pretty sure you can still use the data/med/storage modules in the R2s
have you actually tried it yet?
I hear you and to be honest I think that the devs were really unfair on this part! They should officially warn us of such changes (did they?).

Any ETA on when our R2's will accept normal modules again.. (I assume it hasn't been fixed since I last checked a few days ago...)

They do work and have since Pub 7 went live. Uou must insert the crafting modules into the combat capable socekt cluster and then install that into the R2. This small detail wasn't widely reported prior to the publish being launched but there has been plenty of discussion about it since.
Basically what the devs did was force us to use CCSCs for any module going into a combat capable droid and the standard socket clusters for the others.

I agree that it sucks and was a surprise to most of us. I haven't been able to determine if the CCSC was a last minute addition or had been there all along. I REALLY wish that the devs would give us an obvious heads up when doing something like that though if only to prevent this like running 150 standard socket clusters only to find out that the path has made them installable in only 2 or 3 droids. Hell, TH went and told weaponsmiths that, if he were them, he'd be stocking up on pre patch 7 guns because of the crafting changes. It would be nice to get a hint and a half like that for us....

Oh, we got that kind of warning... too bad it was a LIE. TH told us to stock up on Probots and Probot chassis because the cost to make them was going to go up, but didn't bother to mention that all of the armor was going to get nerfed into oblivion and so the "old" Probot's 820 HAM would make it USELESS.

At the moment, I do factory runs as needed. If I need CCSCs with med/item/data, I just decide how many droids I want to produce using them. I won't be back stocking anything like that until after the next publish. I don't want to risk having to toss a bunch of socket clusters of Lv 6 modules.

I have crates for all the components (lvl 6 medical, storage, crafting sttaions and droid brains) and when I need to build the droid, I craft the required cluster on the spot, it take less than 1min and its safer

Agreed
Of all the lies we have been fed over time, this one was probably the most directly damaging one.
Two lessons to learn:
One, never believe a word TH says about droids, what he knows of them would fit nicely on the back of a postage stamp issued by a Third World country with a paper shortage.
Two, trying to outguess a publish that affects droids is a pure lottery, there are stealth 'fixes' in every publish and it isn't worth the risk.
