Thread: why does everyone keep asking for droideka light?

The droideka are the pinnacle of combat droid design. They inspire fear in jedi. They should NEVER be made into a cl10 pet.

There is art for trade fed droids (as seen on the wallpaper) and techno union droids (roger roger) also. If any other droids should be made into cl10 droids it's those (and prolly only the trade fed ones).

To be honest, i don't even think that the probot / r3 adv combat are on the same level as even the trade fed droids so until combat droids are implemented properly (see my signature to /sign the hybrid proposal - you know it makes sense ) we shouldn't have any more combat droids.

Did i really say that????

i'm going to lay down now...

exactly. we are trying to make droids "more starwarsy". making craftable droidekas that fight as well as nunas wont add to that at all. whoever has been suggestig "droideka lights" are definately short sighted in my opinion.

Where'd you get that?

I can only assume that you're referring to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in the beginning of episode 1, and neither of them seemed very afraid to me - however their objective was to try to negotiate a peace settlement, not fight droids all day long. The line used in the movie "It's a standoff. Let's go." implies that Qui-Gon felt that their time would be best served by finding an alternate approach - IE, that it would be more practical to move on. A jedi believes that fear leads to the dark side, and try to be passive in all things (Anakin's wild emotions are a clear lead-in to his upcoming fall to the dark side)

Now you *could* be referring to darkside jedi I suppose, despite the lack of evidence to support such a theory, but to this I respond: What DOESN'T inspire fear in a dark sider? They use fear to fuel their power, as well as anger, hate, and other passions. I'm sure that cute and fuzzy bunnies can inspire enough fear in a well-trained darksider, and that he'll channel that fear into anger and rage, destroying the bunnies with little effort and much grunting.

Okay, I'll admit it. My post was mostly jest. It just seemed a silly statement. When droidekas come with the groovy shields that block all personal weapons-fire, then I can see their level being adjusted. So far all of them I've seen have been shieldless, unless something's changed drastically in the past month.

But then when that happens, who'll be able to use them except creature handlers? You can't just blanket cert all the master combat classes with level 30 droid certs, because then droids become a necessity for all master combat characters. This raises the power per individual, forcing all creatures in the game to be made harder by the devs to keep the challenge level appropriate, thereby hurting the non-master combatants and anybody else without certs (not to mention putting a huge credit drain on combatants who may not be able to afford these droids that suddenly became needed in order to stay competetive).

Aren't they probably outdated in this time period? Episode1 was something like 30 years ago.

Because people were VERY disapointed with no new droids.

The only thing I consistently hear is, "Yeah, those stats are ok, but can't you put it in a new droid?"

Probots are visually boring and bland at this point, LE's and R3's ellicit laughter because people don't think they should be combat droids at all...I'm telling you, if they gave us a Droideka with the damage of the Probot and maybe slightly higher HAM, DE's would be raking in Weaponsmiths level money overnight.

I have made over 20 million credits selling droids since the patch - I don't think I'm exaggerating to say that if we had the sexy skin of a Droideka I would have made triple that - or more.

If the Dev team cannot see this then they are blind!

My most common DE tell since publish 7!

Here I differ... Droideka needs to be more powerful than a CDEF pistol taped to a probot chassis or R3 chassis...
