Fellow DE's

I got my master and sat down to craft the level 6 armor for probots. My questions follow

1. Has anyone had success using krayt composite armor segments? I tried it with 8800 unit quality and 10% ups on the protection. My probot is the same as everyone elses it appears, 40% across the board and medium armor rating. Does this approach work or am i just wasting time trying to come up with a different approach? It seems to me if the armor guys can use this stuff to get better armor, the DE's should as well.

2. What effect does durability, experimentation, and quality have on the droids. I got good results using very good resources and the damage and speed are the same. Is there no difference in one droid to the next? I suppose the critical failures are reduced with the better materials, but come on, if i can make a level 6 probot with other materials then why look for the good stuff.

3. Does anyone know of any secrets schematics for droids, the Armorsmiths have one that was found, do we?

4. The imperial recruiter offers droid schematics, are they any different from the ones we already have?

Sorry to bore you guys, I just spent 10 days grinding Adv. droid frames and coming to realize I should have thought about something else. I'll stick with it for now, kinda fun making these things.

Sigh.... yet another clueless Master that doesn't actually care about learning about the profession except how to grind... I really wish there was a way to prevent grinding in this game so that those that were interested in professions really had to actually learn about it before reaching master. I had an apprentice do exactly the same thing on Bria, who is equally clueless and it annoys the hell out of me.

Ok, to answer your questions (which are answered by the FAQ BTW - it's stickied at the top of the forum listing. Good thing to read, it's worth your while):

1) No, it's a waste money and time even making Lvl6 armour for the most part. If your droid has two armour slots, use two lvl4s as that will max out the droid at that rating. Anything beyond that is capped. Lvl6 modules are only useful for droids that have a single armour slot, so that they may make it to the cap (which is medium armour at 40% resists for everything). Krayt versions are a huge waste of money, and don't even bother with layers. Just the raw composite sections will be all you need. Tell your AS supplier to make them with the cheapest, junkiest material he can find, because it's pointless for us to use anything with and stats.

2) None. Well.. pitifully any at all. The only thing that is worth experimenting on are crafting stations. Everything else is wasted time and effort (not to mention the increase risk of failure).

3) None that we are aware of.

4) No. The schematics are no different.

Wow,

Sox I appreciate the response. The unfortunate thing is that most people don't have tons of time to put into learning as you go. In order to make this profession profitable you need the finest droids available, as soonas possible. Case in point, the bazaars are loaded with people trying to sell $100 mouse droids. The grinding aspect allows us to get to the point, and then diseminate the information. Thank goodness there are people like you who are there to answer our questions. Once again thanks for you timely response. I hope we can share ideas in the future.

I agree Blue, I've spent most of my DE life making droids to sell or for my guild members. Unfortunately this means I level up usually once a week...but hey I became a DE so I could make droids.

On this point I have to totally disagree. It took me almost three months to hit Master but most of the credits I have now I made before I hit MDE. I made droids that people could use and wanted. As for the MSE droids, those were the only droids I used to grind on becasue there was no market for them. Once I hit Blueprints 3 every point I earned towards MDE was earned through building droids. I think the only time I was grinding was when I was about 10 away from MDE so I ground out some ADV droid frames just to hit MDE. Of course I used the droid frames I ground out in the next batch of droids I made and sold.
