Droid Engineer Archive

I will continue to enjoy being a droid engineer regardless of what may or may not come to pass. Even as the profession sit now, I can find some joy and satisfaction in what I do.

Having said that, I will proceed to make a few pointed comments:

1. There is no one at SoE who currently holds the title of Droid Engineer Developer. A while back, the profession all got a "Notes from the Designer" post in their respective forums. You will note that the notes for DE came from Q-3PO, and were not co-signed by anyone else. If there is indeed anyone at SoE working on DE, it is being undertaken as secondary to another profession.


2. There are so few DEs left in the game, that DE would HAVE to be a low priority from a econimics POV. If all the DEs up and quit the game, SoE would not shed a tear. Their loss would be minimal. Don't fool yourself into thinking SoE really cares about you as a person. Some of the DEVs may perhaps have a human side, and give their best to make us happy, but SoE is a purly money making behemoth. At the end of the day, they (SoE as a corperation) only care about the profit line. This is not evil, this is just business. Otherwise, what would be the point?


3. Most of us (myself included) will continue to put quarters in the slot, because this is the only game like it. I, for one, enjoy the SW aspect. I can't really see spending any amount of time on a game like this if itdid not have aStarwars theme. To that end, I must assume that the developers are not "students" of the Starwars Universe. There are far too many inconsistencies. I followed a recent thread that pointed out several EQ mobs that had made their way here. Also, the general lack of DE development, and poularity of the CH profession would indicate a more Fantasy, rather than SW mentality. This applies to the players as well as the developers.

Take it for what it's worth. This my rant for the day.

From my understanding the Dev that's in charge of Droid Engineering is also supposedly in charge of both Artisan and Armorsmith professions. In the Dev chat they announced that sometime today they are unveiling to the forums, part one of the DE revamp they have been working on for the last few weeks. And last week Sintrosi let it out that some of the stuff the Devs are considering in the Correspondent forum for the DE profession will make us very enviable by the other professions.

I believe your wrong. On locwa I have seen a huge increase in Novice Droid Engineers. I have seen so many flocking to it, though I have no idea why, there is hope for us yet.

Shortly after I made this post, the Statics HoC chat occured. Seems there will be some DE news released this very day. The word DE and POWERFUL were used in the same sentance... should be interesting.
