Where's the responseto all the suggesteddroidsthat would make SWG more "Star Wars-y"?

Seeker type droids that would survey for someone. Roving vendors. The list goes on & on.

I & most of my customers would find other droids more useful (not everyone wants a combat droid) than what we're presented with.

Droids are meant to make life easier, why don't we have a single droid that really does that? Making life easier is to turn every day rote tasks into something we no longer have to do (such as travel to a vendor's location or survey 6 tools worth of resources, to use the above droid examples). I look forward to the day when the Devs begin to see this game as more RPG than MMO & give us the tools we need to turn SWG into a living, breathing Star Wars Galaxy.

I'd buy a year long subscription if I could get a Survey Seeker, but at this point i'd take anything they are willing to give.

The reason there is an outcry for combat droids is the way the combat system worked its way out in this game. No players were able to "tank" against the larger more powerful creatures, and pets had to be used.

At the start, Advanced probots did the job very well, too well some thought, and they were nerfed. But then, CH pets became all the rage. And this is where many DEs had a problem. 1st, we were told that our probots were too powerful for everyone to have, and then they let everyone use creatures that were as tough or tougher than our probots were. A nice slap to the face of every DE.

Now the 2nd problem. DE is a pure crafting profession, and CH is a combat profession. CHs gain exp by using their pets in combat, whereas DEs could only get exp by crafting, with exspensive materials I might add. And yet, CHs are making millions apon millions of credits for the one thing that is needed in this game, a tank. But DEs can not make a droid 1/10th as powerful as most of the creature pets out there.

A 3rd problem, that will be addressed this patch, every player out there invested some point in CH so they could use extremely powerful creatures that could act as tanks for them. Leaving DEs out in the cold again as our best product was like a flea to a Grauler.

Then, before any of the major class bugs are addressed, they add mounts. Even more cash for CHs, who while primarily a combat class, make more money in sales than ANY of the artisan classes.

So, the reason many DEs want combat droids? We feel that if there has to be a pet to "tank" for groups, or people who cant stand up to the larger creatures, then if should be droids, and not other creatures. This is Star Wars after all. Droids were a major part of the story. But you could not tell that by playing this game.

While I do think you are pretty much right on here (though I still say we just drop the whole combat droid thing for now) I would like to add that despite popular belief you really don't need a pet to tank for you. I was out hunting in the krayt graveyard the other day when our CH had to leave (taking the only pets we had with him). The rest of us (myself, a DE/Doctor with no combat skills), a combat medic, a low-level pistoleer, and a weaponsmith (I think he had some pistol/pistoleer skills) took out 3 or 4 krayts before another random CH joined our group. Not only was it nice to prove that its possible, but it was much more entertaining than sitting there watching the creature tank for you.
