Perhaps a new type of pit droid model, or module for Astromech droids (R2, R3, R5) that would allow for the repair of vehicles in the field?

If repair style droids aren't able to repair the vehicles (if there's conditioning involved), then I'm closing down my account and leaving for good.

It's been tested on TC. Droids with Repair Modules can NOT repair vehicles.
