Thread: What Personality chips work?
Do any of them work?
What droids do they work in, etc..
Thanks in advance,

I've gotten "stupid" to work in an LE.
And "worshipful" did not seem to work in an adv. protocol.
Speaking of personality chips...
Is there really a way to interact with them? I know this sounds like a dumb question but my first droid I got was an R2 unit with 85 med rating and a 'quirky' personality chip, IIRC.. Only 2 times EVER did it actually say anything and I awsn't sure if or how I could interact with his speaking..
Your R2 should never have said anything.
Personality chips work in the Humanoid-style droids, like Surgical and 3PO droids. Or rather, they are suppose to work there. And they only work when "conversing" with them, which is just programming them. And that ties in to why we can't name them too.

WAY way back in the early days, many (all?) of the non-conversational droids also accepted personality chips.
True, and the funny thing is the personality chips worked better in the Probots than any other droid. I still have one probot with a sarcastic chip in it. It will say things like "oh right, my life is worth less than yours" when you tell it to attack things. It isn't very often, but it actually says a lot different things in combat from time to time.
Oh man, that's funny.
Makes me wish I had started as a DE instead of a crummy, boring CM. ![]()
My old Probot Rommel still talks.... I just wish he has 40% resists, Medium armor (he's got 25%). I can't bring myself to get rid of him cause he says such witty things.
No, they didn't vanish. I think the probot seems to work well with a personality chip because you have to command it so much to attack, follow, etc. It doesn't talk a lot, but it will say a few things while I have him out during the days outing.

I take it that personality chips didn't 'lose customization' like other things on a droid? To this day my R2 unit has only ever said 2 things and I've sat there and pulled him out like 50 times in a row to see what else he'd say (lol, I hate them long shuttle waits). I honestly thought that pesonality chips 'vanished' like the other customizations.. ??
Just a side note on this, none of the modules vanish or 'lose customization'. the message you get saying that is referring to his paint job. There have been some reports of modules not working (though I myself have never had my droid or a customers droid have a problemthat a good battery didn't fix), but this isn't related to the customization.
For example the R5 series (in the background fluff) had a flaw where all of them were grumpy (basically IA skimped on the personality matrix to keep the cost down) because of this I had kind of hoped that the R5 schematic forced you to put the apprepriate personality chip in but that higer level DEs would be able to retro-fit a 'better' personality after construction.
Obviously certain droids dont have a personality (MSE and Probot are 2 that immediately spring to mind).
The 'retro-fit' after construction was one of the things I hoped the game would facilitate for DEs of higher skill (well the lower ones could try it but at much lower chance of sucess and higher chances of something going horrible wrong...)
