im not looking to power my way through this proffesion i just want to take it slow. how specific do i need to be about resources? im not really looking to spend loads on buying them in i want to extract them myself, im also not bothered at the moment about getting the best resources. i just want to make lots of them and playa round. so how varied are the resources? will i need to travel far and wide just to make something or is it less specific than that?

what i mean is, can u make worse stuff with not so good resources or are the resources needed too specific to alow that?

probably worded badly but it sounds right to me.

Personally I would use low quality stuff to "grind" through the two right trees (experimentation and assembly) at least. You won't have a thing worth selling until you are at least 0043. Even then you will be making underpowered droids, but at least you can experiment on them

As far as resources the rest of the way are concerned, grab some BER 13 minerals & chems, a fusion, look through the schematics, and start watching the new resources. Put about half on "grind" quality stuff to practice with, the rest on nicer things. When all is said and done, hopefully you will have enough high quality to make nice droids

Don't worry about the experimentation tree until you've worked your way up the other trees first. Experimentation currently has no worthwhile effect on droids. You'll probably want to go up to at least Blueprints 2 then look up the other trees and see what you'd want to be able to put in your droids.

As for resources, steel and fiberplast are your friends. You'll also need some non-ferrous metals, copper or aluminum. The named resources you'll need first is probably duralloy steel, for the higher level armor modules. Check swgcraft.com to see the other named resources used in the higher level modules, and keep an eye out for them while you're on your way up.

Steel and Fiberplast for grinding, and for building

For armor: Duralloy Steel and Link Steel Aluminum. Make friends with an armorsmith you might someday want some composite armor segments.

Lots of extrusive ore, fiberplast, and steel for general parts.

Duralimin Aluminum, can't remember exactly what for.

Berylius Copper, Dioxis inert gas, Neutronium Steel, Lidium Extrusive Ore for higher level modules.

Duranium Steel for BLLs

Ditanium Steel for Protocol droids.

Befriend an architect so you can get power cores for your power droids.

Siliclastic Ore for brains.

And if you aren't planning to be a master artisan you'd better get cozy with one. You'll need lots and lots of MA parts. (I sell these in bulk so if you are on Intrepid contact me.)

That aught to get you started.

I went through DE from novice to master without doing any grinding whatsoever, so it is possible. I think the key at this point in time is to find a master DE thats willing to sell you level 6 modules. If you do this then all you'll need is steel and fiberplast to start out, then eventually some copper and extrusive ore to make just about everything you need. There is definately a market out there for low level (aka cheap) droids with storage, so if you can get you're hands on some storage modules you shouldn't have much of a problem selling mouse droids or R5/DZ70/Treadwell's once you get there. You can also make some decent cash on the droid strorage compartments needed for customization tools.

I forgot the Extrusive Ore. You'll need this in droves as well. Mine this anytime you see it, as it seems not to spawn too often, at least on Radian.
