Thread: Combat Droid Interdependency
I don’t know if this has been discussed before, but I think it is something the DE community should consider. Especially if we want to have any input on the topic before publish 7 and 8.
When combat droids finally come out. It is very possible that key components will have to be crafted by Master Weaponsmiths and Master Armorers. From a strictly in-game perspective, this makes sense. A droid engineer doesn’t know how to make a quality blaster to fit onto a droid, nor can he make high quality armor or shield generators. However, it brings in that old bugaboo, crafting interdependency.
I am of two minds on this. I have always liked the idea of crafters having to buy components from each other and co-operating to succeed. However, I think the SWG economy still doesn’t function well enough for this to work. It’s basically too hard to find a reliable source of the components we need. That said, weapons and armor vendors are probably the most common in the game, so it might not be that bad.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts on the issue.
Granted, this would take more time to Master but it could work. Or, they could revise the DE tree to implement these new components.
Just a bit of rambling from a guy that knows nothing about DEs.
I understand that this inherently 'makes sense', if you insist on applying logic to it
, but soon DE will need to buy components from ALL other professions just to build droids - I think the only one we've left out so far is Chef.
So, until all other professions need to buy DE components from us in great quantities to make their products,
I say NO.
I tend to agree, but he logic of it is so strong that if we don’t want it I think the DE community should make that point clear now.
