I agree that probots as the toughest droid with those stats is a joke, but don't think that's the problem. The probot droid as currently incarnated is pretty much in line with the Star Wars movie continuity.

I think the current probot HAM and damage are appropriate given their appearance in "The Empire Strikes Back". Han (or Chewie, not sure which) blows one away with one bolter blast.

Probots are designed as recon droids first with a little defensive power throw in. Increasing the armor rating can make it last longer, but this droid is not a combat droid. Even an advanced probot droid would not be primarily a fighter, hence the prob- prefix.

Which brings me to the real issue.

We need at least one bona fide combat droid. Soon. Some "Roger Roger" infantry droids or the really bad-ass combat droids that come out rolling (sorry, don't know the names).

I know these are "in developement", but shame on the dev team for nerfing the probot droid so poorly that it's now only useful as a bodyguard or sidekick.

As a Master DE I can make a droid (currently one shaped like a toaster with no manipulative capability) that can allow adoctor to operate in the middle of a swamp with the same efficiency and efficacy as he would have in a hospital, but I can't strap a BFG to a droid to add some firepower?

Why not combat modules, then? I want to go into battle with a 3PO, guns ablazing.

Thanks for the added support guys.

And the thread is going strong (strangely going from 5-star to 4, but 50 people have rated, so I'd consider that a qualified sucess).

I know there isn't a whole heck of a lot left to say, but I bet you can come up with something other than Bump . (But even that is appriciated )

As to the references to the Probot's self destruct, it comes from Han Solo's line in ESB after one gets one-shot killed. He says, "Must have had some sort of self destruct..."

The probot in ESB self destructed - it was stated in a dialog a few minutes after it was blown up.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing the probot retain it's current stats, either, IF we got some real combat droids.

Thing is, for droideka's, they could roll them out just about anytime they wanted (pun intended). I have seen the graphics on Loc - so it is not an artwork issue.

I gotta agree with Audio, though. It is crazy to have probots nerfed for the reason that ballance was being thrown off by everyone having a probot, and then attempting to achieve ballance by giving everyone the ability to own an even more powerful pet.

I've read in a few sources (some from more credible star wars sites) that a function of the probot is to self-destruct if under attack to keep the enemy from finding out what data the bot was collecting and/or who sent it.

The probot was certainly intended for reconnaisance missions, and should not be our main combat droid model. We do need a better combat model though. Of the tons of ideas posted in this forum, I have yet to see one implemented however...

Oh, incidentally, one beef I have about the Probot is that it makes the ambient noises, but not the really cool "talky" noises that are much more what I associate with that droid.

Hey guys -

If you haven't visited the thread, or have additional things to say after the bad news today (from Holo regarding the future of our profession) please go over and check it out.

Lots of new stuff, and the thread (if I may say so myself ) really deserves a little bit 'o love.

Do I expect a real reply? Not really - but a third day on page one would speak a lot.
