To better understand the rates at which to charge, can all DE's please respond with a droid and a price for it? Or a droid with additional components on it and a price to charge? I'm not exactly new to the DE profession, but I am getting further and further in the ranks to where as I will be opening my own shop soon andI would prefer not to jip the economy from the DE profession.

I sell cheap, and I'm against anyone overcharging or asking for set prices. That's lame, just do this, list a droid for sale, if it sales too quickly, raise the price a bit, keep doing that until you don't have to make a thousand droids a day to keep stocked.

My price list:

Adv. Probot10000

Adv. R2 12000

Adv. R3 15000

Medic/Repair 15000

Protocol17500

All of these prices are with armor, but no modules. I charge 1000 Per Repair, Med 6, Item6 (or item 4X2), Data 6, and any Crafting module with guaranteed efficiency of 50% or more.

On average most people go with Crafting station/Med 6/Item 6/Repair combo on any droid ordered, so you can basically add 4000 to all the above prices to see what I charge per droid.

Sounds like a plan I tried that once ..... the only price they sold at consistantly was below my break even ...ie I went broke

Such is the way.

I have moved to pretty much selling droids only through my vendor. I make alot less this way but its just so much easier and I can play my second account more. For setting up a vendor I have to streamline my droids though. I only make R4s for crafting modules/medic modules, probots and seekers. I will also keep 1-2 surgical droids stocked with med modules/stations and 1-2 LE Repair Droids stocked with WDG station/repair modules. Now if your still with me here are the prices I charge:

R4 w/ Med 6, Food/Chem Station & Armor 3 - 12k

R4 w/ Med 6 & Armor 3- 10k

R4 w/ Craft Station & Armor 3 - 10k

Probots w/ Armor 3 - 12k

Probots w/ Armor 4 - 14k

Seekers - 2k

Surgical Droid w/ Med 6 & Food/Chem Station - 30k

LE Repair Droid w/ WDG & Repair Module - 25k

Med droids are the biggest sellers and I have to restock them about every 3-4 days. Probots w/ Medium Armor outsell the Light armor ones about 10:1. I dont look at seekers as a real source of income, nor the Surgical/LE droids so their prices are slightly higher than competitors. Those are just there for convience, or people who want something that looks better than an R4.Stocking like that I make about 400k a week. I could make so much more doing custom orders but I really dont see a reason for the hassel. I have more creds than I will ever spend now, and this way I can just make droids every few days. Big thing that will help if youplan on giving this a shot is to premake all your commonly used parts. Droid brains, sensors, motive and adv motives, manipulator arm pkgs.. you will go through them all like water.

Advanced Protocol Droid - 40000

All droids come with level 4 modules and level 4 armor. (that means medical rating of 110,
I make weapon/general/droid, food/chem, clothing and structure crafting stations as well as repair modules.
They are an extra 2-5k to add onto the droid (depending on droid model you purchase).
Droids can be equiped with the following personality chips:
Stupid, Sarcastic, Prissy, Worshipful, Slang, Worshipful

I will not make a DZ-70 or a mouse droids with modules higher than level 3.

Level 5 modules are an extra 1k per module (due to rare resources), however most of the time they are not needed (because of stacking). Level 5 armor is an extra 1500 each unit because of armorsmithing costs and rare materials. Level 6 modules and armor is an extra 2k per item.

I have a vendor located by Moenia on Naboo, at coordinates 3564 -5112, as well as a vendor located by Restuss on Rori, at coordinates 5625 6594.

Mail me with an order or visit my vendors. Waypoints are attached.

So what's the break even point/cost, and how do you determine it? (example would help as to figuring the real cost, including if price is altered by the quality of the resource, experimentation results, etc.)

It's obvious that you wouldn't want to sell below that value, but with little to no repeat business, I would expect a high markup, same as you get with furniture and major appliances.

And on a side note, a flamethrower was actually designed for taking out light targets. Specifically unarmored people. It's pretty useless against a tank, particularly modern, enviromentally sealed ones. Against people its great, it's area affect, it does severe damage to the targets, continues to damage them after the initial hit, can spread to collatoral targets as the initial victims run around, has beneficial secondary affects (particularly in enclosed spaces), can temporarily blind those it doesn't hit providing cover for allies to move forward, and is a great psychological weapon as well. Using it on a gnort, or a dancer, may seem overkill, but honestly, if someone lights you on fire, are you going to be thinking about much else at the time?

To find a break-even price point - you need to calculate how much it costs you to harvest your resources and energy. How much credits do you put into it daily? How much energy? Then, divide that into the # of resources you gather for that particular resource, and you have your cost per credit.

DEs, armorsmiths, and weaponsmiths make gross profits, usually between 8:1 and 10:1 (meaning, for one unit of resource it took, they'll charge 8 credits to 10 credits). It also depends on the item. Some people sell droid batteries for 400 units - others sell them for 35 units. Some sell base droids at a high price, while others sell advanced/fully-loaded at the same price. It's that way with all things in the market - except structures and deeds. There's no other class that consumes as much resources as they need, and get a lower profit margin (typically 2.5:1 to 4:1).

Simply put - you need to discover what the market will bear, and what you can afford - and price to win. Check out your competition. Can you afford to go lower? If so, do. It does bring in clients.

I don't agree with this. To find a break-even price, you need to determine how much your resources would cost, if bought on the bazaar. If you're mining your own resources, then you could sell then on the bazaar for the market price. You're losing THIS much money when you consume resources.

Sincerely.

Break even to me is making more than just mining resources.

R5 with a crafting module - 3K
Probot - 3K
Surgical Droid with 75% medical rating - 3K
Protocol Droid - 3K

I don't bother building ADV versions of any droids anymore.

Why 3K? Cause that's what the bazaar limits me to. And frankly, any other method I've tried to sell these pieces of crap just bleeds me to death. Don't give me the "your underselling the market" balony. There is little to no market for droids.
