First of all, "Hello." I am a new droid egineer to the Ahazi galaxy and I was just wondering if you had any tips or anything that could help me on my way. What kind of resources do DE's use the most, ie a certain type of steel, or something of that nature. Any addition help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I am not a holo grinder or anything. Just decided to make a crafter, and thought droid Egineer would be cool.

I'll tell you that good material to hoard is (for starters anyways):

Silicastic Ore (for almost all modules)

Inert Gas (Again, for almost all modules)

Copper (Modules)

Extrusive ore (manipulator arm package and later, probots)

Steel (lots and lots. Try for duralloy, thenneutronium, but in the beginning, doesnt matter)

Fiberplast (For some modules)

Polymer (modules)

Go to the bazaar, hunt down ext 4 personals (upgrade to heavies if you're rich), like say 1 chemical and the rest mineral. Gas is used in small amounts so you can just buy them off the bazaar, chemical is used in fair amounts but not more than 1 personal worth, and metals you need a large variety of so like 7 or so if you own a house (for vendor and trophies).

Collect large amounts of 1 mineral at a time, it saves travel time from going to many different places at once and makes inventory easier. Good way to do this is, assuming you have nothing right now, collect in this order

Steel, non-ferrous, low grade ore.

This way you can start building droids from day one (mouse). Look for the next resource on the list when the current resource is exhausted. If you're not uber rich, take some time to dig up radioactives, it'll save you alot of money.

Anyways, later on you'll probably want to move on to heavies, which will replace several personals, leaving you space for factories or gas personals. For example, my config now is:

1 Heavy(ore), 4 personals(steel), 1 chem(polymer), 1 gas(inert), 1 factory (for modules).

And when you're harvesting or factory crunching, think big. I mine resources by the hundreds of thousands, make parts by the thousands, and try to place them all nearby. This way you have less to manage, and therefore more time to enjoy the game.

I hope this helps

Keep tack of all your customers (the notepad feature works well for this) and send out an email to all of them when you get new skills or when there are changes regarding droids. Not only does this help them remember your name but also you tend to get a good reputation and a lot of return business/referrals from doing this.

Don't make anything in factories (unless its required, and except master artisan components) until your master, this just wastes your xp.

Remember that, despite what some people on the boards would have you believe, droids are valuable to just about every character in the game, if you think they're worthless, so will your customers.
