Seriously, though, you'll need mineral for your metals and ores, chemical for your polymer and fiberplast, and gas for the inert gas requirements of various items.

lets go for some helpful advice... The main thing you'll need is mineral (steel, extrusive ore, copper, some aluminum), but you'll also want some chemical (fiberplast and polymer).

No, Master Artisan is not a must for DE. It will make your life easier, but it's certainly not a requirement. Just have a Master Artisan make you schematics for the items you need and then use your own factory to make them when you need them.
