I log in today and see all this stuff about a DH profession, but have not seen a post or link showing what TH has said about it, so could someone please post a link showing what was actually said, thank you.

You can find it in this thread here..

And for reference, I'll paste the juicy bits where TH loses his sanity.

Could you drop a hint when we will see the post about the DROID INVASION, please?

Ill be doing it this week. I had to push it off until some of internal discussions were finished. The timetable was changed because the Droid Engineers were very clear in telling me they wanted Droid Engineering and Droid Handling as two seperate professions.

Their argument makes a lot of sense too. A good balance is akin to Bio-Engineers and Creature Handlers; BE's make em and CH's use them. Its really two different playstyles. One is crafting and one is combat/exploration. Adding a class of combat droids to the game has to be similar. Combat droids themselves have to stay level 10 or under for the general population otherwise everyone would rush out and get the better pets. That leaves a wide range of powerful combat droids that needs to be in the game, but to get those droids, players have to spend the time and energy to earn them.

So what we'll have is a Droid Engineer profession and a Droid Handling profession. All players will have access to combat droids up to level 10 and DH's will get a wide range of heavy combat droids to handle.

Got two comments:

1) If I as a Master Droid Engineer can't "figure out" how to operate or control ALL of the droids I can make,

2) If a DE becomes a mechanical form of a Bio-Eng which requires a Droid Handler -

I'll simplycancel my three accounts and never look back.

Droids SHOULD be controlable by anyone, regardless of the level. That's like saying "I just carved a pointy end on a stick and don't know how to use it as a weapon."

I agree to a certain extent. I do not believe that there should be a droid handling profession at all. One of the reasons I became a Droid Engineer was because I knew one day combat droids would be in the game. I believe only Droid Engineers should be able to control the higher level droids (level 10 and up). We are the ones that built them, it wouldn't make sense if we could not control them.

Creatures and droids are too different to be considered the same. Bio-Engineers make the pets, but unless they have the talent to control the living, breathing creature, it will not obey. That is why creature handlers are a good profession. Because this is actually what would happen in reality. A creature handler has the talent and the knowledge to know how to calm pets to obey him or her.

Droids are completely different. They do not have their own will and are completely programmed by the Droid Engineer. It would not make sense to create a droid handling profession for the simple reason that the Engineers know everything about the droid because we made it. In reality, droid engineers control all their droids. If you are not a droid engineer, it would not be logical to give you a full functioning combat droid when you might not know exactly how to use it.

So what I think is best is that anyone can use level 10 or lower droids and Droid Engineers can use any droids no matter the level. This way there is no need for a Droid Handling profession, which I think is completely ridiculous anyway.

Only comment I could make, would be that of reliability:

A droid would be programmed with AI to OBEY their master undoubtably (whom ever that may be).

OR

It could be programed with defection - to NOT obey certain people all the time (ie ED-209)

Do you think the SONY SDR-4x would disobey a command? (btw, that's sony's junk -er, toyrobot).
