Thread: Haters of the Desktop Pic- Don't Log In
I suppose now we'll have another day of crying about how we were "lied to", "mislead", and now they are rubbing our noses in it.
Well thats fine for you, go ahead I guess, but I'll tell ya it's old already. Get over it. Move on. I for one am going to try to have useful discussions about how to get our issues resolved/improved. I want to focus on the good, improve the bad, and ignore the stupidity. Guess which category the whining about Desktop pics falls into?
I do not feel we were lied to or mislead, but I am annoyed at some of the changes. I think some of them were not well-thought-through. Read my other post which I just put up about the fact that the R2 and R3 droids can no longer hold crafting modules.
We aren't whining, we are registering legitimate complaints. More things were broken than should have been, and this patch was just a tad sloppy.
As far as the combat droids go, I can take em or leave em, I would never use one in battle, but a lot of people like them so far. And I knew the high level combat models would not be out until much later along with a new profession to manage them. The high level combat droids ARE here, they're in the Corellian Corvette, which I suspect is a test bed for them so the devs can work out any bugs before they make them manufacturable. Maybe they should have put up more information on the patch and made it very clear what could be crafted and what could not be crafted to clear up their intended initial vision of Publish 7.
Our complaints are about more basic things like I described in the first paragraph, not about the high level combat droids. Most DEs knew the droidekas etc would not be createable for a few more publishes. Our profession is going to really get hurt financially because of the crafting droid issue once the initial craze of the combat droids dies down.
I am directing my ire at the people who are wasting their time demanding that the desktop picture download be removed when we have far more important matters to discuss. At this point protests of that nature are what is moronic, not my post. Chalk it up to being half awake and dreading this March snowstorm going on outside my window.
I fully agree with venting our disappointment, but I agree with TK that we need to come up with a unified voice and a focused set of goals, demands, and requests.

Hmm, the wallpaper might not matter to you, but I spent the best part of 3 hours last night placating very irate customers. Starting a thread on the subject shows me you didn't have that problem eh? It's wrong and it should go, and its causing pain, whether you like it or not.
If you really want unity...this is a good place to start since we know the devs are reading the proposal with interest

I hope that clears things up
I have been thinking about creating a Hot Keyed Generic Response to the questions though...so it should be less annoying....
I thought of writing macros to respond, but instead I talk live and explain to people as much as I can, what has happened. I usually start with there are no new droids to build, and end with no I won't make you a blastomech. With a few sorries and thank yous thrown in for spice.
You make a good point though... damage is done... lets move on.
