Thread: SINCE WHEN DO DROIDS SUFFER FROM PERMADEATH?
I had my droid out at camp.. it was a MSE droid with data storage modules.. I had some important stuff saved on those modules.. I got jumped by a bunch of slice hounds and my droid got fubard.
BEFORE the patch, the droid would just get incapped and then it would eventually come back, or you could store it.
Now it died and can't get back the contents inside.. so bascially I lost a LOT of Creds on this little guy.
Actually, I think this change was brought in specifically to help reduce the population of pre-nerf Probots.
It singlehandedly killed the DE profession in my opinion, since there is no reason to consider purchasing a droid that can easily be killed permanently. I include a large disclaimer/warning in all my droids for sale informing users that this is the case - and I can't help but feel it discourages most purchasers. It certainly would discourage me.
The fact that you can load things up on a droid that are then *also* lost as was mentioned above only makes it worse. The fact that *any* pet is superior to the most advanced droid in terms of survivability is the deathknell.
I can't believe the devs were not aware of this - so my conclusion is that it was done deliberately with the intent of reducing the number of pre-nerf probots as much as possible. The alternative, switching all pre-nerf probots to match the post-nerf stats - would have caused such an uproar that I am sure folks might have quit over it.
Actually, it was in the patch notes from that big patch we had over a week ago. I'd recommend checking the patch note archives...
